YOUR PIANO IS OUT OF TUNE SPADE! how do they get away with millions and call this music. DIAF and Kelis is a very ugly example of a black woman.

  21. heygir says – reply to this

    21

i can understand where he's coming from but i still don't really enjoy hearing racial slurs every 3 seconds.

  22. 22

Hmm first i will start by saying that I am a black female… Ok, all that PC shit out of the way.

I only had to get 10 seconds in to disagree Perez…This is only powerful if you believe in all the conspiracy theory Nas was spitting. I am disappointed actually. Music is a powerful platform…but unfortunately he let me down. The mentality that he seems to have (as portrayed through his lyrics) that "holds our race down". Instead of making excuses for why our minority race is struggling, I wish these vocal black icons would discuss realistic ways to make changes while addressing that a lot of the shit we go through is our own fault…

Oh well…let me know when a black icon's willing to except the repercussions of our own actions, regardless of the "white mans' instigation…

    29

It's sad that there are people still pushing the race card, instead of trying to push an agenda of success for their own people. How long will we have to listen to people blame slavery for everything in life. Worry about your education, worry about your family, make your own life your goals, be an example to other people, treat people like you want to be treated. . .and SUCCEED!

  30. 30

He has a point and some of what he's saying is still true to this day…however, we're not living in the 1900's anymore. Times have changed and will continue to change…its not perfect, but its like it was.

Who else would post this video??? how else would I have seen it? NO television network would have posted it and nowhere would we have found it without being censored… SO YOU KNOW WHAT PEREZ… F*CK YOUR HATERS, SPOILED "STARS", UNTALENTED BITCHES (avril jijiji), AND KEEP ON SPILING THEIR MESS OF LIVES SO YOU CAN ENTERTAIN US ****AND**** THANK YOU FOR ENLIGHTNING ME WITH THIS MUSIC… I WAS NEVER A FAN UNTIL TODAY! ARE YOU BEING A DELETE WHORE AGAIN PEE-REZ? IT'S REALLY NOT ATTRACTIVE!!!!

I HAVE SPOKEN… AND HEED MY WARNING.. OTHER WISE IT'S NOT JUST THE HOT TOPIC LINE THAT WILL FAIL!!!

  44. 44

    Post Script:

While not necessarily my views, this is proof that music is powerful. I bet this video never gets played, I bet this song never gets played, I bet it makes a lot of people think, I bet it pisses a lot of people off, and that is what music should do.
Foot in mouth, I will say it's powerful…mainly because i'm already seeing the dumb borderline racist comments. For the few post above me…if you dont' like the song how about tell us why intelligently. It's a bit hypocritical to tell the "stupid black man" to stop making music while you nitpick over the piano pitches and wish AIDS upon him and his wife…(at least come up with a clever original racist comment)…

Honestly, I wanted to hate it but found myself listening to the end, yeah. So anyway I do like the music but not so the lyrics. I mean really we're suppose to teach our children to never use that word, and as long as it's being repeated in lyrics we're never going to move forward!

I was 10 or 11 when I first heard the "N" word. my step brother (who was visiting and 22 yrs old) called me that after he saw my friend Malcolm and I playing in the back yard. I didnt know what he meant by it but Malcolm did and left to go home. When I asked my parents what that word meant I almost got hot mustard on my tongue. They asked me where I heard that word and I told them that my brother said I was one. He got told to leave and he did. My parents called Malcolm's parents and totally apologized, but Malcolm didnt tell his parents what had happened. He was was afraid that his parents wouldnt let us play together anymore. His parents had said numerous times that it is okay to be friends with me but white girls are not good enough to marry …. keep in mind we were like 10. Everything worked out. 19 years later … Malcolm and I are still friends!
I love and respect Nas but I dislike that he is painting all caucasians with the same white brush. Not all think this way, not even most I hope! I am ashamed of those who do … all shades that do.

I am white, and have many black friends, but this is not a step in a right direction.
All it does is add more fuel to the fire, especially since black culture is already shunned upon by many.
Yes a powerful song, agreed. But this just brings out racism more, he uses sexual slang.
He did this song out of money, not of soul.

    76

Wow, I wish people could stop living in all this hatred and move on. Everyone says they want shit to change but when we constantly hear this degrading stuff it doesn't help the situation. It's like you keep living in the past rather than just moving on. Back in the day people on the street wouldn't even acknowledge a person of color. Now? It's completely different. Everyone is viewed equally, sure there are some racist people, but the majority could give two shits anymore what color your skin is. Just because there are racist people who are white does not mean that all white people are racists, get over it. I also agree with Mary. Slavery didn't happen during anyone's lifetime nowadays and no one from this lifetime is responsible for it. I can't help what happened in the past, and neither can anyone else so what's the point in living in it? It was extremely horrible and we all feel bad about it, but the past is what helps change the future. If the people from back then came to the world we live in now, I think they would all be extremely happy that the pain and suffering they went through led to where we all are today. While there are still a ton of problems we all face today we should all take the time to realize how much the world has changed for the better, and who knows? maybe in 150 years life will be a million times better than it is now. We all just need to stop the hatred against one another.

If a country singer came out with a song with lyrics, "I'm a cracker, he's a cracker, she's a cracker, we some crackers, wouldn't you like to be a cracker too?" they would be ostracized by our society — and rightfully so. There should be no room in our society for songs that throw around racial slurs with such ease. How is the future of race relations ever going to improve from the past when people cling to previous generations wrong doings? Songs like this don't promote change, they just widen the divide… And since when is 8 minutes of a derogatory term repeated OVER AND OVER considered insightful, or music for that matter? If this song isn't a form of self deprecation and racism I don't know what is… This is nothing but downright offensive.

  79. rosend says – reply to this

    79

#1 - Very ignorant for a gay man to support this
#2 - The track was ripped off
#3 - Using Black & White to symbolize a song about racism? Wow! Director deserves an Oscar…. please - what a joke - far from brilliant, However, I am sure BET will mindlessly give it video of the year
#4 - I'd prefer Kanye's narcissism to this junk and Im not a fan of Kanye. At least Kanye's is a publicity stunt that doesn't invoke hate. I can only imagine how many young black males are sadly brainwashed as a result of this into trying to immortalize the uzi toating behavior encouraged here
#5 Nas, a seemingly a creative person completely resorted to encouraging violence which is counterintuitive to any notion of creativity. violence is a result of not knowing how to express yourself thus the easier path in life. challenge yourself and your followers by creating something profound not an old piece of garbage that's been recreated over and over
#6 Guarantee you Nas will have very little if any to say publicly about this. In my opinion he doesn't even have a real message here, simply just trying to be cool at the expense of those who he is claiming to be behind. Of course in his supporters views he'll be considered a genious for saying nothing
#7 Complete cop-out and a miserable creation for such a verteran artist.
#8 Only way this would have been interesting is if Eminem sang it
#10 I truly feel sorry for people who think this is compelling work/art. Truly!

I am a fan of rap and hip hop. I have heard so many different sounds and different topics on all ranges.
But, this is nothing new. How is this powerful when all he does is spout N-words over and over while looking into a mirror with the N-word written on the mirror?
So unoriginal. I can't believe I even watched the whole thing hoping something would strike me.
That photoshopped picture of Kathy Griffith is more powerful than that video!
They had to make it black and white just to try to achieve some level of drama.

    yes.. it's powerful.

    yes.. there is still racism.

but I can attest that there are ton's of accepting people out there.. especially in our generation. The only way we are ever going to get past it is if everyone (including us african americans) can truly LET GO of the past and quit harping on it over and over and over.

I am a successful african american college graduate with an amazing job and lots of friends of every background. I think many people of "color" spend too much time focusing on fighting and in the defensive mode rather than focusing on how to progress.
