Filmmaking Can Be Hazardous To Your Health

We mentioned a while ago that it seems like the set of the new James Bond movie is cursed.

People have been injured and taken to the hospital several times.

Well, it's happened AGAIN!

This time, however, it was Bond himself who was injured.

The current James, Daniel Craig, has just suffered an injury. He sliced off the tip to one of his finger tips while filming an action sequence.

Poor guy, but ewww!!!! And a big OUCH too!

A production team member said, "There was quite a lot of blood and it was decided he needed to go to hospital for emergency treatment. Some people are beginning to believe the film is jinxed."

Craig was taken to the hospital and that same afternoon, after slicing off his finger tips, he was back on set to resume filming.

What a trooper!

And then over the weekend, a fire broke out which caused severe damage on an outdoor set.

Past films have had bad luck on set as well. Even as early as 1967, a stuntman working with Sean Connery on You Only Live Twice, lost both his legs in the rotor blades of a helicopter.

Also in 1997 when Pierce Brosnan was left scarred filming Tomorrow Never Dies, when he was hit by fragments of a bullet.

Let's hope no one else gets hurt.

It's just a movie!

Tomorrow Never Dies, Pierce reveals: "We were filming a scene where I'm in a fight with some armed guards. It was all carefully choreographed but on the last take, the rim of a guard's helmet smashed into my mouth."

"At first I thought it was just a scratch and carried on. But as I walked off set my mouth opened up like a ripe peach. It looked spectacular, there was blood everywhere!"

Did you SEE that last Craig Bond movie? The action sequences were so stacked up that I almost had action sequence overload and faded out mentally. A little calm between the storms would have set up a nicer dynamic, IMHO. It's the rip roaring action that sets up myriad possibilities for accident and injury, and it unfortunately goes with the territory. I guess if you are still superstitious after knowing that injury risk rises commensurate with a high percentage of action scenes, you might call it a 'curse'. I hope he found his fingertip(s.)

Daniel Craig is probably around 40 now. Don't diss older men. They're great in the sack around this age.

It may be "just a movie", but it's a movie with loads of dangerous stunts - always has been, always will! That's how they make their money and reputation as 007 films. Just part of the territory.

He didn't chop it off! He sliced the tip. He didn't even need stitches. He was only taken to the hospital as a precaution. Quit exaggerating!

1989's 'Licence to Kill' (set in Latin America) was said to be cursed too- apparently they were filming truck stunts on a road where a bus full of nuns had died and things were catching fire and going unexpectedly. Stills from an explosion from that sequence also show what looks like a flaming hand reaching out from the ball of fire.

maybe they just need a better OH&S officer on set… then everyone would stop getting injured..

Actually, cameraman John Jordan had his foot severed by the craft's rotor during filming of You Only Live Twice. He did not lose both legs.

That's kind of ironic because in Mission Impossible Daniel gets his pinky finger cut off by a cigar cutter… And now it actually happens. Hope he gets better soon. I wouldn't mind tending his needs…
