According to the latest reports, Gossip Girl head honcho Josh Schwartz has said the spinoff rumors are NOT true.
Schwarts says, "Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment. The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start."
And there you have it, straight from the boss' mouth.
Although, it should be noted, the key words in his statement are "at this moment."

not that this is very interesting news, but im pretty positive jason schwartz mentions a possible spinoff for the jenny character in a video interview on the cw's website.

I dont think that the media realizes how many people watch Gossip girl. It's really the best show ever. I think because the network isn't the "greatest" they think people aren't watching it. It's way more popular than the stupid OC. It's like the new Hills and way better!
As much as GG IS very popular, no way in hell is it more popular than The OC. In it's first season, The OC got around 10 million viewers each episode. GG gets 2, at most 3.

if this show's sinking it's just because you people doesn't even know what a good show is actually… this is kinda well produced, there's nothing going wrong with the cast (if you don't mind the book, of course), they all got acting skills (and it's actually fucking incredible when i see how many shiteous "actor" america throws in our face those days)… do ratings still have anything to do with the real potential of show in a world where so many people watch The Hills ? I don't think so… go on GG, the show's fine, not THAT great but really fine.

if josh schwarts says that there isn't a spinoff from the book then i guess he hasn't done his homework… the book's spinoff is called "The It Girl" and it's about Jenny going off to a boarding school with a bunch of even wealthier brats than the ones in New York.
Not going to lie.. the spinoff is 20 times better than GG!

Re: kkc – Yes, you're right. The media has no clue how many people actually watch the show because, for whatever reason, everybody but the media is privy to the Nielsen ratings. The media doesn't "think" people don't watch the show, they KNOW people don't. The Nielsens don't lie.

Jenny is not enought of an interesting/pivotal character on the show. It seems a lot of viewers don't even like the air time she has now!
Now if it was CHUCK on a spin-off…then we'd have something. But then again, that would be suicide because Chuck is the BEST character on that show, with Blair in second.
