"Because my mother and I have always had a complicated relationship, I always wanted a girl to prove that the past doesn't have to repeat itself. I can't wait to be a great mom and friend to her."

Her mom is a nut job. Tori will do much better. I love T & D's show…and I didn't really expect to like it. Congrats to them.

  8. 8

I see what she is saying…she had a strained relationship with her mom and she doesn't want the same for her relationships with her children. Fair enough.

Sounds like she'll be a good mom to her little girl.

I hope that she really is able to break the cycle.

  11. 11

Tori sure doesn't respect her mother very much, so why should her daughter learn to respect her as a mother with that as an example? Quit airing your dirty laundry in public.

  37. Jess says – reply to this
    37

Tori will be a great mom. I think children of cold selfish mothers either become like them or decide that they we be the exact opposite and become some of the warmest most loving people in the world, Tori has definetly done the latter. Congratulations to her on the new addition to her beautiful family.

  38. 38

I love Tori, and I'm sure she will be a great Mom, after dealing with her mother all those years, it should not be hard to have learned from all that crap from her mom and turn that into something great for her and her children,,, no matter what her mother thinks of Tori, Greed is a sin,, Greed is bad,, and that crazy lady Candy is one of the most greedy people on this planet to not share some money with her grown children,,, what a horrible horrible lady,,
she will probably die and leave it to a cat or something,, that is what crazy old rich people do that do not love their children,, they leave it to pets and colleges,,

good luck Tori,, you will be a great mom,,,, you have seen how that bad mom thing does not work out by watching Candy exist,,
    :-)

Exactly, Tori. What a great quote. It's wonderful that Tori matured out of the typical hollywood ego driven lifestyle into this intelligent, grounded woman. Kudos to her.

Many of us have complicated relationships with our parents including me but I'm also a parent. However, my mother was never my friend - she was my mother. To be a friend and a parent is virutally impossible and that's not a priority anyway. To support, guide and encourage - that's our jobs as parents.

  44. Marsh says – reply to this
    44

Tori, you rock! I know you are going to have a wonderful relationship with your daughter! Good luck and keep trying with your own Mother. It's never too late!

Tori Spelling is a whiney little bitch. Seriously sick of, "I'm a little rich girl feel sorry for me bc my Mom doesn't like me and daddy didn't give me millions when he died." SHUT UP!

  50. The K says – reply to this
    50

What a good attitude to have even if it grows from sad experiences. Good for Tori! Her daughter will have it happier than she did.

  51. P.S. says – reply to this
    51

I can't believe all you people are taking someone's words seriously who wrote a book and whored her relationship with her parents out for money. SERIOUSLY! And now she's on a "reality" show?! These kinds of people are NOT the real thing and it is seriously TACKY that she is going public with comments like these. I say kudos to Tori's Mom for having more class.

  52. WTF says – reply to this
    52

Okay, Tori, you be best friends with your daughter and please don't be surprised when she turns out to be a trainwreck like you. Don't worry about tough love or discipline, let her do whatever she wants - it worked great for Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears, etc., etc. etc.

  53. Red says – reply to this
    53

Wow, I too am sick of this whining little brat who rode daddy's coat tails into a part on his show (let's face it, that's the only way someone that hideous would ever get a role on such a vain shallow show) and repeatedly claws her way into the media by "poor little rich girl" snivelling. You've got kids — stop constantly wh-ring them out and get a job that doesn't involve petting your massive ego (almost as massive as her googly-eyed head!)

  54. Fro says – reply to this
    54

You're not supposed to be a friend to your children, you delusional dipshit.
You're supposed to be a PARENT.
The kid's peers will be her friends.
    You are the PARENT.
The kid needs an involved PARENT.
It's an entirely different thing, you dipshit.
The reason kids get screwed up is because their parents try to be their friends and they don't get the guidance they need.
(Please, God, can we tie her tubes now?)

  55. scoop says – reply to this
    55

You can't be both mother and friend. This broad is stuck on stupid.

  56. Leila says – reply to this
    56

Re: Fro – Thank you I agree,Kids need to be told what to do that way when they are older the orders you gave them will in still good judgement.Your kids will have plenty of friends in their life but only one set of parents don't pass that up!!!

  57. Lara says – reply to this
    57

Interesting… this is the psychological reason MOST women want to have daughters - to "heal" the relationship they had with their own mothers, and to prove that "they can do it better."
Well, unfortunately; unless you can actually HEAL the relationship with the mother, most of the crap does indeed get passed on.

  58. Luv2T says – reply to this
    58

I still hear pain there. You can still have that with your Mom if you give it enough forgiving and non judgemental time and effort. My Dad was not. nice. but our last years were great, but it took a lot of work, and accepting who he was, and vice versa; and agreeing finally that it was OK to disagree. Good luck with both.

  59. Ouch says – reply to this
    59

    Talk about a burrrrrrrn!!!

  60. Dawnn says – reply to this
    60

And I completely agree with that statement. My mother and I were never friends, never mother and daughter like other girls my age were with their mothers, not really friends now that I'm older either, but we talk…. And that's SAD. I know I will be in a better relationship with my children because I have learned how 'not' to be (in a relationship) with my mom…

    61

haha great quote, that old lady seems like a bitch

  62. Anne says – reply to this
    62

I think She has grown into a lovely young woman despite her Mother. I actually feel sorry for her and hope she has found happiness with her own family.

  63. 63

tori, your daughter indefinitely will be much more in need of a mother than a friend. wait til she's five and you tell her she can't do something dangerous and she says she's not your friend. Or when she's 13 and wants to go somewhere without you and you tell her no and she tells you she hates you.
i can't wait til you get that wakeup call MOM!

  64. Atika says – reply to this

This hideous woman looks like a BLOWN-UP DOLL that my man bought in his fav sex shop last week!! :-) )))

  65. Lanel says – reply to this
    65

Poor tori, her mom was a straight up HATER, plain and simple. But then again Tori seems to surround herself around female friends alike. For expample that annoying rude so called friend of Tori's on Tori and Dean in Love. Yall remember? Tori likes girl friends that treat her like shit.

    68

Most of these people on here and cold and heartless assholes . ESP the people who are bashing on tori. What the fuck do you know about her family? I've been in a horrible relationship with my mother and it HURTS.
Just because her dad is rich doesn't mean she doesn't feel pain about it, it has nothing to do with it.
You guys will never learn. shallow closed minded fuckers. Candy needs to go back and learn how to be a mother instead of fucking some guy instead of aaron. Way to go! That's a mom for ya.
Makes me sick.Being a friend to your child is a great thing, but you also have to be a mother as well. Nothing wrong with doing both.

  69. Aimee says – reply to this
    69

    THAT'S THE SPIRIT TORI!!

Stop the cycle, be the best Mom you can be!

Sometimes us kids have to show the parents how to be parents…sad but true!
