Even MORE Progress

This is truly amazing!
Some more changes are taking place in Cuba - for the better.
The newest development is pushing the country towards more of a capitalist state!
Cuba is set to abolish their equal pay system and will allow for workers to earn performance bonuses.
The average worker in Cuba earns about or less than $20 a month, with everyone making around the same salary - a system that was put in place back in 1959 during the communist revolution.
Can U live on just $20 a month????
According to Cuban officials, the new wage system should improve production and services, since the current one has removed all incentives to excel due to everyone earning the same regardless of performance.
Workers will receive a minimum 5% bonus for meeting targets and will have no ceiling on salaries.
As for managers, they could earn a 30% bonus if their team increases production as well.
A rep for the government said "It's harmful to give a worker less than he deserves, it's also harmful to give him what he doesn't deserve."
Wow.
And it just took 50 years to realize that?????

yeah u can live on 20dollars a month.
its hard but hey it happens.
please, perez, your family ran from cuba because they were too chicken shit to fight. all cubans living in the united states are just little men and women that ran out of cuba and now bitch constantly about this crap. and so are their descendants
Say what you will, but communist Cuba has a 99 per cent literacy rate and full health care. Which is some thing you won't find in a greedy capitalist country like America. Also they don't have as much of a problem with the homeless. People who hate communism are people who are ignorant to the truth about capitalism. I'm not saying it's perfect but at least the people of Cuba don't have to resort to running to Canada to get their meds.
Re: Fidel – Wow, and Hola! dude. C'mere…I need to whisper something to you. (you need a new track suit, that one is too 80's…)
Re: Yoly –
I am Latin you racist. I READ HIS SITE FOR THE GOSSIP, NOT THE NEWS
Re: nagna –
Capitalism is good because everyone…every single person… has the ability to make themsevles successful. If you'd start working your ass off, make good decisions, and not sit around on your (guarenteed to be) fat ass complaining YOU could be successful too. The "rich get richer" metality is something lazy people buy into to make themselves feel better about a situation they put themselves into.
Re: *** –
You fucking moron. It's not "free" healthcare. Someone is paying for it. You lazy, pathetic liberals are just happy to have the goverment (i.e. - tax payers) take care of you. Get off the tit!
Hmmm.. i wonder if all these proud latins, were at the memorial day parade waving AMERICAN flags, doubt it!! Hell, they refuse to even speak english, go to miami, its like being in a different country… lets see if they will all go see the 4rth of july fireworks and sing the natinal anthem before hand!! They just come here to make our american money but really only care about where they are from, not where they are now. Poor america and all the people who fought for it.. the latins are totally distroying our culture… very sad, my grandpa died for this country for you to go flash around your cuban flags…so sad
Wow. When will the US recognize that it's harmful to give workers less than they deserve and it's also harmful to give them what they don't deserve?
Took nearly 150 years for the U.S. to realize that Africans are not pieces of property to be owned… and It wasn't until 1970 that whites learned that blacks and other colored people deserve to drink from the same fountain or eat at the same restaurant or go to the same schools.
its not that it took 50 years to realize, it's that the resistance was finally removed from that society, and all of the desires that those people have been having are being let in/manifested
Re: Playboy8820 – You are so IGNORANT! And if you think Perez is so immature and petty, get off the FUCKING site moron. Why do you read his stuff.
Plus, you dont know jack shit about Cubans so dont talk and make assumptions.
Re: GoAwa –
And you, your a fucking ignorant moron as well. Cubans aren't wetbacks you fucking idiot. Get your shit staight. I bet your a fucking low life gringa! Go pop out one of your cousins kids.
LMAO!
Morons, you are ALL morons.
Its worth reporting things like this because that means Cuba is on its way to change. And it can only get better from where it was.
Re: Alexi – You want to know why the want to do it? Because they have no life over there. If you think Capitalism is such a BAD thing, then go over there and live. Lets see what you'll say then…o0o yea, you wont be able to say much there.
Re: I kno – But hopefully we are wrong.
GOOD, NOW YOU CAN GO BACK TO CUBA AND TAKE ALL OF THE REST OF THE STINKING CUBANS DOWN IN MIAMI WITH YOU!!!!
Re: mel – Let me tell you something Mel, nothing was handed to us. My parents and grand[arents came here and made a living just like everyone else. Don't forget, your a decendant as well. And don't be mad because we have a beautiful culture you wish you had or could expierence. I WAVE BOTH MY FLAGS PROUDLY! I am cuban by blood, but I love the country I was born in, America as well. And I happen to live in Miami. Down here, we are filled with so much culture, its too much for you to handle. We have thrived in everything we set our minds too. And Miami isn't another country, we are a combination of different cultures, living happily.
Don't rain on our Parade because we are proud of where we came from. Why don't you go look up your family history and find something to be proud of. Maybe then, you'll stop hating.
And thats good for you that your grandfather fought for something. But, my ancestors have to. My mother and father came here looking for a better life, just as your ancestors did as well.
Please, look onto yourself, before judging others. Your just like us.
MORE REASON TO END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY, END IT NOW, CUBA IS NO LONGER IS COMMUNIST COUNTRY.
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
END THE 'WET FOOT, DRY FOOT' POLICY
Being a Canadian, I have just returned from a trip to Cuba. I have been there many times, and this time, we spoke to some of the workers, ie: gardeners, maids, waiters….average run of the mill workers. We asked them about their salary and living conditions, they told us that they make about 250$ every two weeks. They don't pay for education or healthcare. I don't know where you got the idea that they were paid less…
Another thing, DO NOT believe the lies that your government tells you about the Canadian health care system. We at least have a system that would never turn down a patient just because he had no insurance. It may take a bit longer for some tests, but at least everyone is eventually treated.
oye cuatrera! eres una estupida….you think that is an amazing change??? mind boggling progress??? come pinga!!!! why don't you leave those comments for when they release all of the political prisioners or allow their own citizens to travel to foreign countries….sucia….mamamela!!!!!
Fidel must be rolling over in his grave. Well, if he were dead, I mean.
I wonder what he must think of all these reforms that he refused to implement. And what he thinks of his brother now.
Cuba is finally moving forward, thanks to Raul.
fuck moving towards a capitalist state. workers should be given a living wage - which is way more than $20 a month - but that does not mean that moving to a capitalist state means progress.
Why cubans think the world cares???
Who gives a shit about cuba or cubans???
$20 US dollars a month is not the same in Cuba. It is worth MUCH MORE. I am a mother of 2 kids and I can't afford an extra $100 a month. I don't buy anything new or waste money. I can't go on vacations, buy a new car, buy enough organic fresh foods. WE CANNOT afford to save for college (free in Cuba).. I cannot afford to get my hair done or for a babysitter. My husband works 60 hours a week so don't say we don't work.
I think that if Cuban Americans really gave a crap about it, instead of coming to America and complaining they would be back in Cuba doing something.
UMMMM…these "facts" are not even true…. where are you even getting this from???? and you forgot to mention that housing is free in Cuba (what would be a third world country) and so is food, education, and medical care….. that's more than the U.S gives it's people BY FAR!!!! not so bad…. maybe you cant go around buying LV bags but when your other option is being homeless and uneducated and starving…..I'D SAY VIVA CUBANA!!!!
It's a slow progression, but Cuba is going to make huge leaps. Everyone gets tired of the bullshit eventually. Maybe someday we'll even stop Beyonce from singing. Ohhh a girl can dream! *-*
Re: Sue –
But you don't mind handing over hard-earned cash for a war, I take it? That's where your taxes are going, not to people who could use it. Like those getting laid off all over the country due to globalization and the lack of job training. Put down the CNN/Fox News Kool-Aid and learn some truth about assistance.
This is supposed to be a gossip site, not re politics. It's Perez' blog, he can write what he wants but I agree with the other posters. I'm here for sleezy photos and trashy celebs. I'll get my news, donate to charities, and discover music elsewhere.
I think that everyone should do their research on Cuba, past and present, before making biased materialistic statements. Nothing is wrong with the monthly pay because in Cuba the people are provided for! So what if there is no emphasis on the latest fashion and the latest cars. There is food (not the four servings on a plate that greedy Americans are used to), there is adequate housing, there is free education, and health care. Personally, I prefer not having to worry about those things. Having a computer and cell phone is nice, but most other material goods are not necessary and do not necessarily mean that the country is better off. I also think that people, in general, are becoming really selfish. If almost everyone is living healthy and satisfyingly more simple lives (rather than competing for everything), then all the better! I would rather everyone be able to live in comfort than having to watch my neighbour struggle to feed his/her children whilst I live in a big house and waste large amounts of food. Once again, just think about everything before you speak out against a country that is obviously supporting itself in the most important ways.
These are superficial changes! Allowing cell phones and computers and the locals to stay in Tourist hotels… please… these people have a hard enough time affording soap and toothpaste let alone a fucking cell phone or a computer on $20 DOLLARS A MONTH!!!…. even if they received a 50% increase …a whopping $30 dollars a month.. and do you think that there aren't restrictions on websites and cell phone monitoring. It's bullshit… simply a DISTRACTION to the real issues at hand… how about allowing freedom of speech and freedom of thought. Stop the brainwashing and allow the people to become informed and to offer them political CHOICE in a variety of candidates and allowing them to VOTE for the person they really want as leader of their country.
who cares i live here if they dot like it move
Re: osk –
osk can you please go back to hell?
