Dr. Drew Pinsky issued the following sort of apology to Tom Cruise on Thursday after raising questions about Tommy Boy's mental health:
Dr. Drew meant no harm to Mr. Cruise and apologizes if his comments were hurtful. Although Mr. Fields's (Cruise's lawyer) intent is clearly to slander and discredit Dr. Drew, under no circumstances is Dr. Drew making a blanket diagnosis about Scientology nor Mr. Cruise whom he does not know. Dr. Drew was simply using Mr. Cruise as an example of someone who is recognizable to help the public understand. Again, Dr. Drew meant him no harm.
Dr. Drew sorta chickened out!

My opinion, Part 1: (also posted on another article)
Dr. Drew hit Cruise's psyche on the money. Tom is obviously in the throes of paranoid delusion, believing that he has been handpicked by 'god' to change the world. This is plain to see in his egotism, his controlling and manipulative ways with the press and the people around him, and his self-indulgent beliefs that "only he" can save people. In his actions, his speech, his body language, and his treatment of those around him, he parlays the notion that inside, he believes he is the chosen one destined to bring the world to salvation.
(Call it the "Jesus-wanna-be" syndrome, if you will.)
But beware of false prophets, folks. NO religion will ever "save" the planet, and no ONE human being is higher or more "chosen" than the other. This is a mind-set placed into our psyches by the very people who would choose to control and lead us - the very design of churches and religions EVERYWHERE who dare to speak out with: "ONLY WE HAVE THE WAY!"
This is HUMAN EGO, period. And in its worse-case scenario, those such as Cruise, who literally believe they ARE the chosen one, are unfortunately NOT acting; part of their delusional psychosis is that they ACTUALLY BELIEVE IT.

My opinion, Part 2:
As a child, Tom Cruise suffered neglect and abuse from his control freak father, and was babied by his mother to the point of egomania. He has never left the "highchair" of his youth, and therefore has the expectation that all around him should cater to his needs.
His mother worships him, (perhaps taking her "need" to be bullied - never healed - from his father's hand to her son's), and has neglected in the years of his childhood to teach him that he is the same as everyone else, and deserves no better nor worse treatment than any other human being.
(This "worship"-like attention is easy to see in Cruise's selection of a wife: he handpicked a woman who was psychologically inclined to perpetuate the belief that he is "special.")
Further, while Cruise has stated that his father was a "bully" and a "control freak," it is obvious that the twig hasn't fallen far from the tree. He uses his father's bully tactics with the press, with those close to him, and (quite obviously) in his choice of lawyers.
He is seriously messed up, people. The most dangerous criminal minds of all are the ones who completely and utterly believe they are better than everyone else, and above the laws of human behaviour.
Dr. Drew is bang on in his interpretation. I am looking forward to the day when someone is able to "break through" to Tom, and disintegrate the nonsense and mind control that is Scientology.
