Top Chef, Jr.

Top Chef Junior is in the works at Bravo!
The spinoff to Top Chef will feature teenage competitors aged 13 to 16.
Looks like the popularity of the original Top Chef with kids prompted the move to create a show featuring teens.
The last season of Top Chef ranked in the top 15 shows among kids/teens 2-17.
There's no word as to when the show is scheduled to premiere.
So odd! What's the appeal of Top Chef to the tweens???

FIRST
Those kids will have accidents, i still can't cook so i bet that they cant
first!
1st!!!!!
Star Search Jr. American Idol Jr. We see how well those shows are doing now.
top chef is amazing, thats why it appeals to tweens (and everyone else!)
It doesn't appeal to the tweens. It appeals to the parents.
I've wondered the appeal, too. My 14 year daughter loves Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, etc…She says it's just cool. Whatever…! Tweens are strange creatures - you never know whats goona be a hit or a flop!
LOVE Top Chef!!
good to know that tweens are attracted to such things, maybe it will put an end to the "hater" days of the likes of Perez Hilton et al
THAT'S CRAZY!!! I'M GONNA BE ON IT!!!
Perez Hilton as Frodo.

My son loves it and he is 17. He wants to be a chef!
That's funny, my 7-year old is addicted to Food Network! He gets mad if he misses Ace of Cakes! I think it's great.
the emo evolution is stronger than ever and the knives remind them to cut themselves??
I don't unserstand how one man can write so many posts like perez does!! Is it only he who wrights? Its not possible!! Or…??
We love Top Chef. The show is awesome! It would be great to have Top Chfe JR. They also need to have Project Runway Jr. too!
Top Chef kicks ass! My whole family LOVES it! CONGRATS to Stephanie, the first woman winner of Top Chef!
IT'S A GOOD SHOW, THAT'S WHY! ALSO THERE IS NO SEX, GORE, OR DRUGS!
FOOD! DUH, FATTY.
"Top Chef: Tween Edition" doesn't sound like a bad idea, at all……………………………………………………… "What Perez Sez…"? Now that's an odd idea; a blogging queen who decides that his opinion on divas is going to make good tv - the show was a FLOP!!!……………………………………………………Not to mention his hideous clothing line, desperate radio show and the hyprocritical advertising that's infected his site! FUCK YOU, PEREZ! FUCK YOU!!!
I have a 3 yr old son that LOVES this show. He will walk around with two utensils saying "top chef". I think it is great that they are making a show for the younger adults as well! HOW FUN!
I'm a teenager, and I think that show is totally bad ass. It's one of my favorites.
Douchebag
Top Chef is so awesome!
The finale last night was great, congrats Stephanie! well deserved
glad that cunt lisa didn't win!

americans kids (sadly) are bunch of fatties… fat kids like food… its not a stretch to see why this Top Chef is popular with the tween.
seriously, i drive by a school on my way to work… holy shit balls, its not like it was when i was in school. in my school there was like one fat girl and one fat little boy, who sadly got teased mercilessly. now its like 8 out of 10 kids that are obese!
A lot of younger people are interested in cooking. It's fun and has some delicious results after all.
Re: lola9 –
Just because you're useless as an adult doesn't mean anyone younger than you is useless as well.
Sounds like a crap idea. Way to spoil the franchise. I don't care to see teens do anything on tv, except act like spoilt twats on Gossip Girl
this is awesome. i love the show, yes i'm 18 but still i loved to cook and i sstill do and its awesome that they wanna show off their skills!
I agree with the rankings, my 5 year old loves watching that show!
Perez,
My 12 year old loves cooking shows.
She loves Top Chef, Rachel Ray, Iron Chef… You name it.
She watches Food Network by choice.
Of course, she also loves the "tweeny shows" (even the "evil" Hannah Montanna"), and let's not forget Project Runway (HUGE fan of Christian).
But yes, the cooking shows are a hit with the young-uns.
only because the tweens are smoking pot and catching themselves watching food and competitions like realword, road rules BS whatever happened to road rules any way. Mixing both competition and food you got a hit with the stoners and stay at hom kids with no lives.
I love that show! I've watched since season one….i was kind of pulling for Antonia but I liked Stephanie too. Nice to see a woman win! I think it's great that kids watch…i'd rather mine watch an hour of Top Chef than play video games…
What's the appeal of "Top Chef" to anyone, really?
i'm assuming you meant TWELVE to seventeen and not TWO….
I'm 17, and Top Chef is one of my favorite shows. However, I'm a big fan of cooking in general, so that could be why… Also, I really miss the gay cook from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy!
im 16 and i love top chef. i introduced top chef to my parents, not the other way! kids don't only watch what their parents watch, we have a mind of our own. i think the show sounds like a great idea. WHERE DO I SIGN UP?
Top chef is one of the few reality shows that isnt about some whore looking for "love" Its a show a family can watch together and not worry about.
Every Wednesday night all my children ages 3, 5, and 10 pile up in our bed and watch top chef. We LOVE it! They have "mini" top chef competitions at home in the kitchen. It encourages them to be creative in the kitchen and try more things.
my daughter has been in training for this one since she cracked her first egg at age 2
I love Top Chef, but come on! The Chefs sit around drinking, smoking, and cuss constantly. I would not let my child watch it when they are impressionable
Padma definitely might have somehting to do with it.
Because many top chefs like Mario Batali and Emeril are also CELEBRITY chefs and we live in a celeb culture. These are their new heroes
"So odd! What's the appeal of Top Chef to the tweens???"
SPIKE
I'm 17 years old and I fucking LOVE cooking!!!!
This show is going to be freakin' sweet.
love it! this past season aired an episode with kids helping the contestants in a challage…however, how are young kids going to figure out a quick challange? not sure, but what is the difference between a 20 something guy and a tween? same level………
My kiddos are 5 & 4 & they LOVE Top Chef. It was hard to let them watch it because of the bad language. So I can't wait for the jr edition!
Its entertaining Perez!!!
Sharp knives and kids = bloodbath.
I can't believe that 2 year olds are watching this show…. They barley have an attention span to watch a cartoon for more than 10 min.
Why do this with children. It fosters an unhealthy competitive attitude. I think it's a horrible idea.
The appeal is that there are people that still known how to cook!
i think that's awesome that so many kids are excited about cooking! i loved watching cooking shows as a kid! i'd rather my child choose top chef over the other crap out there on television.
Liking eating and cookings has nothing to do with being fat; plenty of people love to eat good food and love to cook and are thin. Look at Japan. People there are more obsessed with food than Americans and they have many more cooking shows or segments on their stations than we do. And Japanese are, overall, very thin people.
doesn't anyone else thing that Top Chef ad is a tad scary???
I love Top Chef and Padma is steamy hot! Love her!
umm…why are they ripping off of She Wants Revenge cover album?
here's hoping anthony bourdain again shows no remorse, and makes at least one of the kids cry. love him.
im 14 and i love cooking and my favorite show is top chef and hells kitchen
obviously money! maybe not 100k but they will get some money or maybe free tuition to a culinary college! shit that would make me do Top Chef.
Perez: what is wrong with you today? boy trouble? so negative….. top chef is a great show. especially for kids. it promotes healthy competition, passion for a chosen profession, and excellence and pride in one's work. why are you so surprised that kids respond to that? have you no faith in our youth? should they all be watching TMZ and every piece of crap mtv puts out? News flash, the world is not made up entirely of young people who's every thought revolves around LC or what kind of adult diapers madona is wearing.
I'm a teen Top Chef watcher. I can't even explain the appeal. I guess it's just a break from most other stuff I like.
But, seriously. Top Chef Tween? Sounds good to me. Wholesome, appropriate, interesting, might even get kids cooking (and more aware of what they eat, junk food wise). I can't find a downside.
i'm obsessed with top chef
i'm 15.
as a 15 year old, top chef is a unique show that doesn't revolve around bitchy cat fight blond drama.
sorry if its "weird" to you perez.
and to the people who talked about how teens like food so much?
go stuff your face assholes, not everyone who watches the show in the US is obese, dumb asses.
Re: ramó – wow. what a fucking moron. lemme guess you're obese, right? shut the fuck up, no one asked you to be an asshole.
haha actually i work at a kids cooking camp and all of the kids love this show! basically everyone there no matter what ages watches it… it suprised me too when i found out how popular it was with them
aahahahahhai
totally no appeal!!
it feeds us when we're starving ourselves for prom=]
I friggin' love Top Chef
I don't know about this spin off though,
it could be good
but it could SUCK [:
Perez, You're not going to gush over these Tweens like the Jonas Brother's are you? That's DISGUSTING!
I love top chef, it inspires me to cook. I watch with my 4 year old all the time and he is really into it so I think this is great! Its a good family type show that can inspire kids and adults alike, plus they do a lot of health-oriented challenges too… BRAVO bravo
omg i just turned 17 and i am like obsessed with top chef! i cant explain why but i just love it! i will def watch this show unless they cook boring dishes
I love Top Chef. My kids (10 &
love it also.
It could be good - good way to get kids interested in culinary arts, pay more attention to what is in th food that they eat, etc.
But on the other hand - could be very bad. I know that there is NO way they can hold teens to the same standards as they do the adult contestants. I'm just hoping they don't dumb it down too much, which they probably will.
Can't wait for Wedding & Restaurant Wars.
uhhhhhh, 13 to 16 years old makes you a TEEN, not a tween. Tweens are 8 to 12, because they are beTWEEN being little kids and being teens. Any age with TEEN in the number (thirTEEN, fourTEEN, fifTEEN, sixTEEN) is a TEEN. Duh.
i wish i could be on this show im 13
because there all stoned and have munchies
lol TWO year olds watch it? they don't edit out their mouths! they only bleep!!
If there are auditions for that i am definitely gunna do it
i love Top Chef, i have been watching it since the first season. The show has a gravity that pulls me in, along with many other teens. At first, i thaught i was the only kid at my school who watched it, but then when i asked kids if they watched it, a lot of them had seen it before. I have been cooking since i was 12 ( i am now 16). I have trained in France, and i won a cooking competition in my school, ansd in a worcester county competition. All i do now is cook and watch cooking shows. I would fuckin love to try out for top chef jr. Just imagine all the bad ass chefs you'd be able to meet; Anthony Bourdain, Ming Tsai, Tom Himself, Rocco Dispierto, Tod English. WOW! I would absolutely shit on fools if i joined. I think it would be a great idea for a show. And fuck all the people who doubt teen cooking abilities, just cuz u douche bags cant cook deosnt meen a kid cant. Im better than my culinary instructor( not to toot my own horn)… so shut your mouths.
Peace!…. future top chef jr winner.
I just want to know, how I can get my son on this show. He has cooked better dishes at home than I have had in some restaurants.
