      Hell ya! The economy is in recession so if marijuana was legalized the government would make so much money off taxing it. Besides everyone gets it anyways and many people drive under the influence of it too (which is wrong) so there's no reason the government shouldnt invest in it.

      fuck yes! its a plant! although it's considered a drug, it has been scientifically proven that it's less addictive than both alcohol and tobacco two other "drugs" that are legal. … plus the fact that it's really not that harmful to your body, the toxins released when it's smoked are still less harmful than from cigs. Also, the intoxication from marijuana is less intense than from alcohol, and you can't really overdose on marijuana, but you can easily get alcohol poisoning…. soooo someone tell me why marijuana is illegal?

      … oh yea, it's because in the past it was linked to African Americans and a lucritive and irresponsible lifestyle, which was clearly not thought of too highly by the general public (which was at the time, white)… but now, in the 2000s, i think policies need to be updated in accordance with modern views

      Alcohol and cigarettes are legal and they are incredibly dangerous! I would gladly pay a tax to be able to buy marijuana legally! I know far more people who have self destructed on alcohol and cigarettes than I have ever known people who have self destructed on marijuana. In fact, I can't think of a single person, and trust me I know plenty. Active pot smokers are all around us, they are productive citizens who contribute greatly to our society. Most non-pot smoking people would be floored if they truly knew how many of us are out there…and they would never suspect it! The marijuana stigma is highly (no pun intended) overrated. To categorize marijuana with other drugs, such as cocaine, heroine, ect. is a joke. Only people who have experienced a variety of "drugs" should be able to realize that marijuana does not belong in the same category. 100% Legalize POT!

      Actually, marijuana was banned because of competition with the cotton industry. Hemp is a stronger fibre and more versatile for cotton. It was banned because it grows quicker, is cheaper and is better than cotton. Cotton farmers lobbied for it to become illegal on the basis that it was an illicit drug in order to save the cotton industry.

      and just in case someone says that it's a "gateway drug" and so if that's legalized, people will want to legalize coke, then E, etc. in the same way that when kids first try marijuana, they'll want to try other drugs. Although I think that kids who use marijuana are more likely to use other drugs as well, it works in the same way that "kids who use energy drinks are more likely to consume alcoholic beverage, and engage in more risky behaviour" (if any of you remember that article from awhile back) It's not the actual using of the drug that creates the desire to continue to try things that are worse but similar, it's that its just attached to that sort of lifestyle… but everything depends on the individual, and if parents do their job to control their childrens use of marijuana, just like they do tobacco or alcohol, it should be legal, and under control of the gov't able to be sold to adults (I'd say 18, but I guess it shoud go with the alc laws where you are)

      I don't think marijuana should be legalized, but I DO believe it should be at least decriminalized. American prisons are stuffed to the gills with otherwise innocent people who get locked up on posession charges. How fair is that to the families of abused, kidnapped or murdered loved ones who watch the brutes who hurt them walk free because it takes too much effort to lock them up? The American justice system desperately needs to be revamped.
