Why don't you all tell the American public, that if Tim was a Vegan he'd be alive today. Eating meat, dairy and poultry products causes heart and cancer problems…..TELL AMERICA THE TRUTH!!!!

No matter if you're conservative, moderate, or liberal this universally effects us all. Tim Russert was not only one of the best reporters of our time, but also probably the best political mind in the country. This news cast by Tom Brokaw is absolutly heartwrenching, and I can't help but instantly feel the void that will be there in my election coverage come November. Just a couple of weeks ago I remember his reaction to the Barack Obama nomination, I'm just glad he was able to see that historic nomination. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, especially his son, Luke, who literally just graduated from college. I've always heard how important Tim's family was to him, so I'm just glad he was able to watch his son graduate from such a great school (Boston College). Rest in peace Tim Russert, you will be missed.

tim was just a good person - the salt of the earth. yes we are mourning a great journalist but more than that we are mourning someone who represented everything that is great about his country. you could just tell how much he loved life & how it was almost as if he couldn't believe he was living the american dream. he wanted to share everything w/ us from his humble upbringing to his disbelief about all the prestigeous people he met & had the opportunity to interview. he knew how blessed he was & obviously worked so hard at his job to keap us informed. to hear those that worked for him speak about what a great mentor he was is so touching because so many people in a position of power are just mean & arrogant. let us all learn from tim not to take the gifts we are given in life for granted & to never treat someone as if they are beneath us just because they are not given the same opportunities or perhaps don't have the same luck as we may have in life. RIP Tim - you will be missed.

I just wanted to add how said it is that more people comment about Spencer Pratt than take the opportunity to bid farewell to a true American patriot. I am as conservative as they come but still loved & respected Tim. It was great to get your dose of politics from Meet the Press & his does of humor on the late night shows or when he was giving interviews pertaining to his books & his dad. RIP.

no sympathy here. THIS MAN WAS A REAL GOOD POLITICAL PUNDIT, TIL HE SOLD HIS SOUL. ITS PRETTY SAD THAT HE WORKED HARD ONLY TO SELL OUT TO OBAMA. MY GOD FIRST KENNEDY, THEN BYRD, THE AGONY OF THE STATE OF IOWA(WHERE IT BEGAN), AND NOW TIM. LOOKS LIKE GOD IS ANSWERING THE REVOLT AGAINST CLINTON. IF I WERE OBAMA,AND HIS FOLLOWERS ID BE SCARED. NO ONE SURVIVES THE WRATH OF GOD

      Re: gregg

You are exactly right! I will guarantee you that 99.9% of the people who are coming on here and saying how he was so fair and unbiased and wonderful are…Obama supporters! They're not known for their ability to see the truth. Russert got really weird at the end and I think actually he didn't die from a heart attack but that he actually suffocated from having his head so far up Obama's ass! Oprah's next! Look out.

I agree about Tim's deplorable performance AGAINST Hillary and overtly in favor of Obama in the February debate. It was vicious and biased, and was rightly parodied on SNL, and it's of course, never been mentioned in this weekend of tributes. It's part of the record, and it shows the "good ole boys" in the media, led by Russert, and the good ole Irish Catholic boys at NBC News, led by Russert, were going overboard to make sure Hillary never became President. This is very important to NEVER overlook about the man and his actions.

It won't be forgotten that he was a biased, sexist psuedo-journalist who interfered with the election process in more ways than one. Nice way to go out as an un-democratic propagandist.

I work at NBC in Washington and I was at work the day this happened. It was pretty crazy. Driving into work tonight, the front of our station is COVERED with balloons, flowers, signs and cards. It really is amazing what an impact he had on so many people that they took the time to drive to the station and create a memorial for him. RIP Tim.

I heard about Tim Russert's death this morning. Being a journalist myself, he was one of the few that I looked up to and aspired to be like. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He was a man of true character and he will, as Mr. Brokaw said, "be missed as he was loved…greatly." May the four winds blow you safely home.

The amount of ignorance on this reply board is astounding. The anonymity of the internet never fails to make people free to embrace their inner idiots. Cosmic retaliation for supporting Obama? The only one getting what they deserve is, frankly, Kennedy. But supporting Obama is certainly not his biggest sin.

Tim was a good man, which is rare. Not perfect, but who is? He worked hard, took care of his family, loved his hometown. He did more for Buffalo than any other man I can think of in recent history and the city loved him for it. He made an impact on US politics that will not be forgotten for a long while. His opinions were valued, his points legitimate. Tim loved what he did and the country benefited from it.

He was a good man. And he will be dearly missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
