Indy 4 Original Script Unearthed!

Remember the script drama that plagued Indy 4?
Well the Hollywood Reporter shines a light on the renewed interest in the first script that was panned cause the movie to most fans was so-so.
Refresher — noted screenwriter Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) spent a year writing a draft of Indy 4.
Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford liked it.
George Lucas did not. Diva!
Script was then rejected.
On Wednesday, the first script (titled Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods) surfaced.
Some sites posted the script, then quickly yanked it down.
We bet Spielberg and Lucas' lawyers were on them!
The source of the leak remains a mystery.

I think George Lucas had the sense knocked out of his head a while ago by that butch daughter of his. Sometimes it is time to retire and pack it in. Bigger talents than him have walked away from films before they embarrassed themselves too badly. Others haven't. He's turning into the Bette Davis of the 21st century.

I just heard a report that the couple has made over $2M in the last 2 years - I suggest that all of us that don't care for the couple we boycott them - that means - don't click on articles about them, Don't comment on them - Put them on Ignore. If they are advertising a produce write and tell the marketing department of that product that you are going to stop using it as long as they are advertising this product. I think we should start with US Magazine and Taco Bell as far as the boycott goes.

Thank God they dumped that original script!! I watch action movie for ACTION not fucking "romance". Besides, I was never all that impressed with her in the older Indiana film. She wasn't rpetty and I could not see why Indy even cared about her.
They big mistake they made with either script was the bullshit about aliens. Please. how unreal and stupid, not to mention unoriginal. Just because something is mysterious or it's origins can not be understood does mean "aliens" made it. They could have been way more creative with that. I personally think that ancient Atlanteans made the real crystal skulls and it would have made a much more interesting movie had they explored a theory like that, rather than some stupid tired alien theme that is so overdone that I just about yawn every time aliens or space are in any movie plot.

I've been a fan of the franchise since day one (yep, that was twenty-seven years ago!) And in my opinion, Indie 4 was great. It stayed true to the spirit of the other films.
I was so relieved to see they didn't matrix it out or use CGI to take years off Harrison's age. Nor did they rely solely on over-the-top special effects to fill the entire film with action the way Hollywood tends to do when "updating" a franchise. I also think they chose well with Shia. Regardless of what the media says, I think he makes a terrific action star. He moves so well on camera (reminds me of a young Patrick Dempsey). Those who claim the movie is substandard have been desensitised by Hollywood's excess and should probably take a step or two back to regain perspective.

i understand where you are coming from, i too watched the originals as a kid too but it seriously lacked the simplicity that people have grown to love. the classic one liners, dare i say occational cheesiness, but most importantly, it lacked a plausible story line! instead of the whole alien crap, they could have done something related to the myan gods or something on a more plausible level! the conclusion was just terrible in my opinion havent we seen enough aliens already?! that, more than shia as a sudden monkey whisperer, bothered me more than anything else and i was sorely disappointed with this one and it sounds like it stems from lucas alone…

I want to say to anyone who hasn't seen this movie - DON'T. It sucked. It just reworked story lines from the previous three movies and had no original story of its own. Karen Allen just stands there thru the whole movie. She has no good dialogue even. And 25 years later she still has the same hairdo!!!! In typical George Lucas fashion, just a lot of explosions. WHY DIDN'T THEY LEAVE THE ENTIRE PROJECT TO STEVEN SPIELBERG? HE'S THE REAL GENIUS, NOT LUCAS. There was no character development, nothing. Boring.
