Del Martin, 87, and Phyllis Lyon, 84, have been a couple for over 55 years years.

On Monday, they were amongst the first to be legally wed in California now that the state recognizes gay and lesbian marriages.

      I had tears in my eyes watching that. 55 years together and only now being "allowed" to marry. I am very happy for them but sad that they have had to go so long without having their relationship officially recognized. Love is alive and well.
