Not so good news!

Variety reports that the major studios are holding back on production starts for flicks and TV pilots cuz they fear that the Screen Actors Guild will call a strike following the June 30 expiration date of its feature-primetime deal.

The actors ought to strike until the writers actually WRITE, enough of this reality crap BS and SAG shouldn't worry too much, You have already lost credibility with most TV and Hollywood fans because your members can't act, they maybe can model, be cute, sing or play sports, but that's all they can do. When ACTORS get back into the busines of acting and WRITERS get back to the business of writing then your SAG card will be worth something.

and i wanted to add…i have a BA (4 year) college degree and still barely make 20 grand (and thats BEFORE taxes are taken out). Life isnt fair but you cant go on strike everytime you get annoyed with your job. Its called a job for a reason.

I am so sick of these 'creative' people and their strikes. Hollywood and TV managed to function for 60 years without this shizz. If these folks didnt like the way their industry pays, they should have done something else.

With the economy the way it is, they should thank God they have jobs and can afford to get there. The whining makes me wanna puke.

Can Robin Williams and Julianne Moore not afford some cooler signs? You'd think the Hollywood elite could do better than some sharpies on cardboard.

YOU'D HAVE TO BE ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL (PEREZ) NOT TO KNOW BY NOW, THAT THE STUDIOS HAVE BEEN NOT GREEN LIGHTING ANYTHING FOR THE LAST 4 MONTHS IN ANTICIPATION OF A STRIKE. GUESS SOME PEOPLE NEED TO READ IT IN A PLACE WHERE THE GENERAL PUBLIC CAN GET THE INFO THEMSELVES BEFORE THEY BECOME AWARE OF WHATS GOING ON IN THE TOWN THEY REPORT ON AND LIVE IN - PEREZ!!!!!!!

I stopped watching TV during the writers' strike and do not plan on watching TV again, especially when I watch them in their entirety on DVD. I found old shows on DVD that my 9 year old loves. Plus we read a lot, have movie nights, take long walks, etc. I'm tired of the greed. The actors receive far more than the writers do, and I cannot believe that they now want MORE when most Americans are struggling financially. This strike make be the final nail in the coffin for network TV.

Here's my take on "the industry" these days–we are in a downsizing economy. They (actors, writers, producers, everyone in or out of their respective entertainment-related unions) need to adjust their expectations accordingly. I'm a freelance writer and rates are down for most of us all over–why? Because ad rates are down and those pay for the writers and editors.

Meanwhile, I just took two of my kids to a matinee of IRON MAN the other day. They are both under twelve. We had 1 large popcorn between us and three drinks (out of the cooler–not the fountain). Total bill was just shy of $40! For a MATINEE in the rural New England ex urbes. Now, it was a lot of fun and we do like to see the occasional movie in the theater as opposed to NetFlix or a rental. But I guarantee with gas costs being what they are, and movie prices high (and now we have to suffer through ADS on top of that–and why don't movie prices reflect that?), that fewer families are going to go to the movies this summer. Or the same families will go fewer times.

The movie industry has always been considered recession proof, even in the Great Depression. But everyone in that industry is overpaid any way. The bubble has to burst sooner or later.

As for TV, I've hardly been watching at all. I say, bring on more crazy reality TV. The only thing worth watching as it is assurance that one's life is somewhat normal in comparison.
