The musical Cry-Baby is closing this Sunday.

Sad.

Unlike the adaptation of John Waters's Hairspray, Cry-Baby failed to catch on with critics or audiences.

The show will have played 45 previews and 68 performances.

That sucks, I really wanted to see it next time I was in NYC. Although I think the should of kept the original music from the movie.

Perez I visited the mall yesterday and went into Hot Topic. Your line of clothes were right at the front. I must say that your clothes looked HIDEOUS and even more cheap and ugly in person than they looked online. No one was looking at your section except for me. I asked a fellow employee how your line was doing and she said "It's terrible, it's not selling hardly anything at all!" HAHAHAHA. Admit it Perez, you failed with your clothing launch. Suck it up!

I AM CONVINCED THAT ALL THE HATE MAIL THAT IS POSTED ON YOUR SITE IS REALLY BEING POSTED BY SAMANTHA RONSON. THAT DUMB BITCH WOULD DO THAT. AND- I'M TIRED OF PEOPLE HIRING LINDSEY LOHAN FOR JOBS. A CUNT LIKE HER DOESN'T DESERVE TO WORK AND MAKE MONEY FOR BEING A SNOBBY, LOW CLASS WHORE. SEND THOSE BITCHES TO THE LOONEY BIN…IGNORANT ASSHOLES

      19

It failed because they didn't use the songs from the movie!

I was sooooo excited to see this, and when we went, I was SO FRICKING DISAPPOINTED! Why mess with perfection?

They left the story the same, but changed all the songs? Doesn't make any sense.

There is nothing sad about a really bad show closing. It is one of the worst broadway shows that I have seen in a long time.

I saw it in previews and thought it was VERY entertaining. Although the actor playing Crybaby was kind of bland but everyone else was VERY fine. The songs were funny and entertaining and the dancing impressive. Harriet Harris (from Desperate Housewives) was hilarious, as well as the head nerd guy and the psycho teen stalker of Crybaby. Pity it's closing since there's so much other CRAP that lasts for years on broadway.

it is sad. i really liked it. it was the 1st broadway show that i actually had fun at. i fell asleep to chorus line, company, mama mia. its not exactly phantom of the opera, but there is no dull moment. if u r in nyc try to get a ticket, its really a fun show.

and i think the reason its closing is not cuz its bad but because of the high ticket prices and the slumping economy. Broadway tends to suffer during those moments in economy. but its not a bad show, its really good. its a shame.

you know, i wasnt so impressed with the show. i heard that it was by the same people who brought us hairspray–which was exciting and fun (but only when marissa j.w. was in it!).

after the seeing the show, i kinda just left with my mouth wide open in a "wtf" kind of shape… there were songs about french kissing, and a whole cheer about polio…

period pieces are exciting, but this show lacked the charm that hairspray/grease has.

      rip cry baby

Maybe of they would write new shows and stop trying to turn every movie into a show, then Broadway would be great again.

I'm not surprised that piece of crap is folding. I was one of the five people that watched the Tonys on TV this year, and that performance was PAINFUL to watch — reminiscent of an especially bad high school drama club.

Broadway is awful these days. How do you do a revival of Sunday in the Park with barely an orchestra??? Thats like doing a Mahler symphony minus the woodwind and brass section. Oh and like we need another production of Grease?????

I saw the show in previews and thought it was fantastic. It was raucous fun and the time flew by.

I guess people are too used to that Disney shit now being pawned off as theater.

this is sad. i saw the show and really liked it. i know it wasn`t hairspray, but it was still really funny. it also brought up problems in our society during that time.

Re: T – If you hate Perez so much, then here's a little tip. EXIT THE SITE, RIGHT NOW. I am very sure Perez actually cares about what some dumb ass has to say about him. At least Perez has managed to get a clothing line, do you have a clothing line? NOPE. That's right! So until you have accomplished more than Perez has right now, then you can come here & insult him.

I thought it was a great show-different from the movie-but totally John Waters….you have to appreciate his sense of cooky humor…I'm from Baltimore and I have to say-it really reflected him….I liked the changes…my bf and I were laughing the entire time….I'm sad it didn't last….(they could have chosen better leads….)
