Texas Republicans Take Weak Stand Against Racism!

The Republican Party of Texas will donate to charity the $1,500 it received for leasing a booth at its state convention to a vendor who sold this racist button, according to reports.

That's it????

According to the Dallas Morning News, the booth selling the racist pin was leased by Jonathan Alcox of Florida.

Texas Republicans spokeswhore Hans Klingler said the Repubs have been unsuccessful in trying to reach the vendor, Republicanmarket.com, who sold pins, scarves and other items last weekend.

So, instead, the party is sending a letter saying in “very strong terms” that he need not apply to sell items at any further state GOP events.

That's the way to take a stand against racism…donate a laughable $1500 and send a 'strongly worded' letter.

The Republican Party is still determining which charity will receive its donation.

The Texan Republican mouthpiece Klinger went on to say that he and party leaders believe the pin is distasteful and they hated that it was being sold at their event, which he said was upbeat and dedicated to unity.

Whatever.

Actions speak louder than words!

I am absolute appalled by this button with the racist remark. By putting it up on your site, you are giving it the reprehensible attention that it does not deserve. It just really makes me mad.

Yep…actions speak louder than words. Liking fighting and dying to end slavery in the U.S. (The first in the world to do so.)

Also, like fighting Democrats to end institutional segregation. Yeah…evil Republican parties. Keeping them slaves to welfare so you can coerce their vote to stay in power and stay rich is the right way to treat them, isn't that right Ted?

Everyone just needs to get over themselves—the Dems especially Obama can do whatever they want–but the entire Republican party gets blamed for one A-hole—-let's see….if McCain doesn't win there will be no riots—imagine what kind of H*** will break loose if Obama loses!!!!

Give them a break! Repubs as a whole are not responsible for this. Not even Texas Repubs as a whole. It's one man and his vendor who are the backwards idiots. So why spread flames of hate over the entire body of Texas Republicans for trying to rectify a situation. Besides, what do you mean "actions speak louder than words" anyway? THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING. It's not like there's a time machine to go back and stop the idiot from selling the racist buttons.

damned if they do damned if they dont. I love you Perez but seriously?….seriously?? they are just taking something that was bad and trying to make it right. No matter what they did you would hate on them, so they might as well try to correct the problem and not care what others think.

    217

OK, it is funny. A damn joke. Now if it said something about stereotypes then you could call it racist.
Second, I used to like this site but Perez is just hammering his political OPINION down peoples throats and it is getting old. I mean, just because people in Hollyweird think it is best to vote for a democrate regardless of his views or beliefs doesn't mean it is best for the rest of the country….you know, the people that work everyday at jobs they hate and worry about bills and gas prices. If 'rez knew anything about politic he would know that gas has nothing to do with G. effing Bush. It is WHERE we are getting the oil that is the problem

Re: Amby – I totally agree with you. Doesnt it kind of shock you? So much stuff is happening around us and having a black presedent is what people are concerned about. I dont know about you but I think this is the time for change and people are diffrent than they were years ago (the majority of us anyway) and I think Obama is great! Im kind of nervous because of all the sick people on here but honestly I think the groups of people like that are getting smaller and smaller. I dont know where these people live or what they live like but they are so shallow!
