Al Gore Responds

Filed under: Politik > Al Gore

algore2.jpg

We told y'all earlier that former vice president Al Gore seemed a little two faced when it was revealed by the Tennessee Center for Policy Research that the former Vice President's home energy use has risen by more than 10% over the past year.

Mr. Gore's spokesperson reached out to us to set the record straight.

Here's what she said:

I had the chance to read your blog today and wanted to take a chance to
clear the record:

1. The Gores undertook a three plus year renovation that concluded in
November 2007 with the issuance, in November 2007 of Gold LEED (Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design) from the US Green Building Council.

2. As part of this renovation, the Gores have:
-Installed a geothermal system for heating, cooling and hot water
-Installed 33 solar panels
-Completely retrofitted their appliances, windows, ductwork, insulation, and
lighting.

3. Since the renovations were complete, the Gores have saved 40 percent on
their site energy use (which is a combination of electricity and natural gas
bills–the two major sources of global warming gases).

4. The Gores also purchase their electricity, through their utility, from
the Green PowerSwitch program–which means that their electricity come from
solar, wind and methane gas.

So, in summary, the Gores have: made their home more energy efficient, the
produce electricity from renewable power (solar, geothermal) and they
purchase renewable power. No one is perfect, but they are doing their part.

Finally, the Gores are also donating a substantial amount of their personal
time to educate the public about the climate crisis as well as donating the
proceeds of their work to charity. They have donated the proceeds of the
Nobel Peace Prize, "An Inconvenient Truth" (the book and film), and Mrs.
Gore's photography to the Alliance for Climate Protection and The Climate
Project.

And there you have it.

Thoughts?

global warming isn't freaking real!!!!! hundreds of the first scientists who said that it was occurring have recanted their statements, but of course the media wont show that. the earth goes through cooling and warming but its just part of a cycle. it has nothing to do with us. animals like cows pollute the air wayyyy more than humans. so for all you people who want to spend money helping the "global warming cause," youre wasting youre money.

    What an incredible phony

  24. 24

His residence still uses a TON of energy. There is no way to spin it. Besides, Al Gore has profited handsomely by selling his doom and gloom story. He won't debate anyone because he knows that the facts are not all on his side. We can't determine the weather a week from now and yet he seems to know exactly what is going to happen years from now. Al Gore just dishes out junk science. He's like the leader of scientology with a bunch of minions following his lead because they too believe in doom and gloom.

Oh give me a break!!! They fail to mention the Gores use an airplane constantly!!! Oh big deal they put a geothermal in their house. I have one also. With all of the tax money they have wasted on global warming (by the way there are now studies coming out that the earth is in a cooling trend!! ever hear of the maunder minimum???) maybe he should have put his time into getting the democrats to approve drilling in the US so we didn't have to depend on others for our oil. Now that I would be impressed with!!

Perez I hope this little back and forth hasn't put the thought in your head that you are a journalist. Don't be confused, you are not. To Al Gore's people: we love Al and his green message. Don't feel the need to respond to the shit on PerezHiltom.com. Thank you.

    34

Of course they'd never dream of actually just "downsizing". You have to live in a disgustingly huge mansion if you're important like the Gore think they are. And even with all the bullshit things they do to "green" their giant pigsty, they're still overconsuming. Greedy fat fucking pig family.

I wonder how many tons of landfill material and water polluting construction runoff were a direct result of the renovation; sometimes re-doing can cause significant damage to the environment. Don't be fooled into taking the Gold LEED stamp as meaning anything substantial, get the facts of each case. We want numbers of Gores previous energy use compared with now, apples to apples Al.

i love gore. unfortunatly transporting ones self from point A to point B in the year 2008 takes some, if not all the energy coming from fossil fuels. he can't stop flying jets because they use jet fuel…there are no solor planes as of yet i don't think. the point is, he's doing what he can and fortunatly he is rich and "hooked up" with connection out the ying-yang so he CAN afford to do what he does. not perfect, not admirable, but at least he's not like the 98% of folk in his tax/educational bracket who do nothing.

    ooooh perez you got TOLD.

why were you posting things against Gore and Obama? Do you WANT fucking Mccain to win? It'll be another four years you can't get married perez. Shut your mouth if your information isn't accurate. I LOVE your website but it's been majorly disappointing me lately….you over react and attack people that don't deserve to. Sure, attack Winehouse for going to the hospital, call out hoes. Your site is getting wayyy to political. and your just trying to get attention by starting fights.

Why trash someone ( for ANY reason) if they are trying to do their part for this earth and the enviornment???? This man obviously has a passion and a commitment to this earth we live on, and to pick, pick at a few minor things is ridiculous. This person has done more for you, for this earth and for making us all AWARE of what devistation is going on on this planet. He cares! Do you???? You live here…..leave it alone for God's sake…..this man is trying to make a better difference for all of us humans and this planet we live on! Give him a freakin break!!!!

He is great, Bush has been a complete disaster. Those that want to bring this man down are just frustrated that their boy has been an incompetent.

  46. 46

Oh forgot to mention that it's sad that the VP has to have one of his lackeys to respond to your blog posting. It figures that Gore relies on many of your brainless readers as supporters.

If Gore's people are reading what I write I want you to know that Al would give himself a lot more credibility if he'd have open debates about global warming. If he truly believes it's happening he should have no problem showing just how wrong his adversaries are. So why is he chicken? Is it because he doesn't want the $$$$ to stop rolling in to him as he's exposed as a fraud (which we already know he is).

*Al Gore has presented the public with a well-researched and truthful understanding of global warming and it's ill-effects on our world today. With the number of Natural disasters affecting all of us these past years on the rise, and its obvious correlation to our atmosphere and how we treat it, it's IGNORANT for anyone to refute what is a truth. Politics are on everyone's mind these days, but I think it's time for Americans to stop treating Global warming as yet another political issue, and instead unite to make the necessary changes!*

Why doesn't this hypocrite take his $100 million profits he's made off of selling his global warming myth and start donating it to help poor people weatherproof their houses? Oh, you wouldn't want to help the poor…that's so 80's, like AIDS. Hold on to that money, chubs! Let the middle class taxpayers pick up the bill for everybody!

  54. grus says – reply to this
    54

I still think gore is a fake. No matter how much you explain what he has done. All he wants is attention, and all he cares about is himself and his money. It takes money to go green, you almost have to be a rich freak to afford it. That is why you have all these "actors" and people with money wanting you to save the environment. I support saving the environment, but not with an agenda. ;)

He may be using more energy, but its not the energy that causes greenhouse gases. thats what people need to wrap their heads around.

…….I can't believe that Al Gore reads Perez Hilton!!!

I think that the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" is a great movie, and if it gets people thinking about what they can do to make the earth cleaner and reduce pollution, that's great! I do my part by recycling as much as I can, re-using shopping bags, and recently getting a more efficient car.

If we all contribute a little, it will help a lot!

    Re: james

You're wrong. Watch the news when the weather is on every day and see when your local record high temperatures were set. 9 times out 10 it was in the 1920's — not anytime in the last ten. Global warming is a hoax. The temperatures fluxuate on every planet….even the ones where there are no people or SUVs.

This is the last time I will ever visit your blog, Perez. You are mean-spirited, ill-informed, and unbelievably stupid.

So Al Gore has a big house? He's done more to bring attention to our environmental crisis than any other person in this country.

And as for the people who say global warming isn't real. I hope you're in the path of the next tornado that rips through New Jersey (or some other state that isn't supposed to have tornadoes).

Keep up the good work spreading BS, Perez. The next thing you know, the Republican administration will be drilling for oil right off the coast of your precious home state. So much for the beaches.

I think people should realize that the Gore's residence also houses offices for them and their staff. Since he's not teaching anymore, he's probably working a lot more from home this year. So it's really not fair to compare his energy consumption to that of your average household. A more accurate comparison would be between the Gore's residence and an average house+avergage office of similar size.

HOW MANY MILES DOES HE RACK UP IN HIS PRIVATE JET? He want us to reduce, reuse and recycle while he BUILDS BUILDS BUILDS AND JAUNTS AROUND THE GLOBE FLAPPING HIS GUMS. from the Daily FIasco

Perez Hilton kicked off his Las Vegas weekend with a Friday night appearance at Wynn Las Vegas’ Blush, where he stopped to chat with and snap photos with any fan who flagged him down. Of course, half those photos are going to have drawn-in blow going up fans’ noses later, but that’s the price you pay.

The next day, Hilton was at Hot Topic inside Fashion Show Mall to sign autographs as part of the promo push for his new clothing line. If you really want clothes to show support of your favorite blog, we’ll be selling T-shirts out of the back of a van parked somewhere on Dean Martin from noon to 3 p.m., or until the cops find us.

Later that night, Hilton was dining at Wynn’s SW Steakhouse with three others when he was reportedly comped a $600 meal and left a generous, meaty $0 tip. Apparently that Hot Topic money hasn’t started rolling in yet. Or maybe he was just getting ready for his Sunday trip to Toronto and he was practicing the local gratuity customs. We’re sure that’s it.
