Miz Jackson's Getting Real

Janet Jackson will be starring in an MTV reality show, it was announced today.

Ugh.

We have mixed feelings about this.

We don't really like reality, but we do heart Janet.

The untitled project, which has already started casting, will feature Miz J as she mentors a group of aspiring singers and dancers.

The project will be shot in the coming months as Jackson prepares for her world tour.

One of the show's exec producers says, "It's really about finding who's the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or Usher. And we'll find it from a pool of people who you wouldn't typically find it from. We'll go to YMCAs, church groups, local community centers and try to cast the show."

Will you watch?

    I'll watch, but I can't help but feel this is a huge step down for Ms. Jackson if you're nasty. The Jacksons are so scared of being irrelevant. And how awful to use Janet's name in the same sentence as Usher and Justin Timerlake, as if they accomplished anything near what she has. As usual, I'm sure Janet will find a way to do something positive for someone else with this program, but Janet should really be taking time to focus on her own career and resurrect it, instead of doing something that sinks her ship faster. We all know what she's done and remain hopeful that she can pull herself back up to the top, I highly doubt a move like this is it.

    Her career has stalled, so maybe this will help? She's not playing MSG on her new tour, and her Izod Center show in East Rutherford (a much smalled venue) isn't sold out. I really have great affection for Janet–but I feel Jermaine Dupri is the wrong producer for her. She needs to move on creatively.

    I will be watching Janet,s reality show. It sounds interesting in my own opinion she is one of the best dancers, and who better to mentor the younger generation. I know Janet will bring it with her own style and I can not wait for the show and of course Rockwitchu concert.

    Hmm.. Could always be another fake reality show, but hey if they're giving some people the chance to show their passion in what they love, be it Singing, Dance..whatever, it's always good.
