I don't think that the true spirit of hip hop will ever die. There are truely some great artist out there trying to make it happen and help hip hop grow. That being said, I think Soulja Boy's music is equal to Bill Ray and Achey Breaky Heart. It's a flash in the pan gimmic and not made to be taken as serious music. I mean could you imagine if someone thought his song was real artor that it had any value for creative talent? No. I really doubt anyone sees this as real music with something intelligent to say. It's just a silly little song played at grade school dances so that the kids can listen to "hip hop" without the parents having to worry about the content.

Oh and making fun of Ice T because he is old and was on Law & Order is lame. I believe getting old happens to everyone so not such a bright thing to do. A few years down the line Soulja Boy will be old and some new punk can come in and tell him he is old hat. Also holding a job is nothing to be ashamed of, Soulja Boy will learn that soon enough!

I grew up listening to Ice T - think the guy is the real deal and personally, I'm not into the radio rap these days BUT SB makes a great point that he is just a kid - like Ice T was once, hustlin'…trying to make a dollar outta 15 cents. He has every right to change it up…and no, hip hop isn't what it use to be when DMC started it all back in my day.
