United Front

Filed under: Politik > Barack Obama > Hillary Clinton

wenn1743522.jpg

In an effort to unite the Democratic Party, Barack Obama's campaign announced today that he will be campaigning with Hillary Clinton next week.

Yay!!!!!

The two senators will campaign together starting next Friday, June 27th.

The pair will also meet in Washington with some of Clinton's top contributors in an effort to try and calm donors who are still bothered by Obama's presidential campaign.

Few details are being released at the moment, though.

The news did come one day after Obama announced that he would reverse an earlier position and reject almost $85 million in public financing for the general election.

The announcement was received with a lot of criticism.

So, to draw the attention elsewhere, he made the announcement a week early about campaigning with Hillary.

Do U think Obama should have Hillary run as Vice President?

Yes i definitely do think that Hilary should be on the ticket with him… it's the only way that he'll get the majority of her supporters to still vote for the democrats… i think that a lot of her supporters have been disenchanted, and will be apathetic if he doesn't leverage her in the biggest way he can…

i think they should run together, cuz sad to say but barack will probably get shot, so then clinton could take over as pres

  43. major says – reply to this

    43

I think he should. A vice president is only given powers that the president wants them to have. They are mainly an advisor position.

Before all the bickering happened they were pretty much the same in their views.

The thing is that they have to tread carefully because there are a lot of hillary supporters that might vote for mcain if she isnt the vice pres or atleast a cabinet member.

  44. devin says – reply to this

    44

YES!! the only way he's gonna win is with her as his VP

  49. Aliss says – reply to this

    49

Yes…. but there are PROS and CONS….. its very DICEY!
    PROS
She knows her shit and that will avoid any of her followers going to McCain… well alot anyhow, and that would be a HUUUUGE problem.
    CONS
People who are undecided who DONT like Hillary will vote for old man McCain.
But I say joint ticket would be strong!

  50. Mee says – reply to this

    56

Secretary of State or Supreme Court instead of VP. I think she would have more opportunities in either one of those spots.

Think about our current VP…ummm…not much there, right? Of course, she would bring that position the stature it once had, so I will be happy as long as she is SOMEWHERE where she can be heard, and implement her wonderful ideas.

    She is unbelievable, awesome, great.

  57. eb says – reply to this

    57

he should have a white person as VP to, at least, have a chance. I think Hillary will be a good choice. Otherwise, good luck, OBAMA.

    66

Jesus dude, he announced he was going to campaign with Hillary last week. Where have you been? Maybe if you watch MSNBC more often you will get the news before someone reports it online with their spin.

He's not deflecting attention. He's trying to win. Had he taken the public funds he would have looked stupid. And it would have been considered an error in judgement since Obama can out raise McCain 3 to 1. McCain is mad that his campaign NEEDS to take the 85 Million dollars from the government and cannot raise funds on his own.

Finally the DNC under Howard Dean has NOT raised as much money as the GOP. So how is Obama, who is still widely believed to be a Muslim and a terrorist, going to defend himself against the GOP's attacks and the attacks of his special interests groups?

Obama made the right call here. I don't see how in a time with wars, floods, and gas prices at 4.50 a gallon, turning down 85 Million Dollars from the government to finance a Presidential Campaign is a BAD THING?

    Gimme a break.

this remind's me of the time my uncle tom came to visit us when I was just a little boy growing up in south central los angeles and he would always bring a new piece of rope. I would always ask what the rope was for but he would never say and my mammy would always tell me to mind my own business. I later heard that he used the rope to hang thing's up in the south. I guess I'll never really know the truth but I do remember this one time we went to visit him out in missouri and he was alway's dragging these large object's behind his pickup and if you asked me I would say they looked just like me. well, that's neither here nor there. you should see the progress my squirell's are making, they are still nursing with my neighbor's pet annaconda and she's still grooming them like a true mother. I also just got my new deep fryer from acme deep fryer's inc and the chitterlin's turned out just awsome. yall should come over and try some. well gotta go, I think somebody just backed into my cadillac. I had to park in in the street today because the day laborer's are back working on my house still, since the last fire that was caused by that old faulty deep fryer that I donated to the local church.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She stands for everything that he doesn't - the old establishment, the old ways, etc. If he wants to truly bring change to our government he CAN'T have her as VP.

  80. 80

Ummm, they talked a lot of crap about eachother…but with her on his side, he'll get more votes. Hillary has alot of voters. Cant really go wrong with the DEMOCRATIC party tho! Rock on.

  86. AI says – reply to this

    86

I wish hillary would have donated all that campaign money to charity rather than waste it! Thats selfish! lol, but I am pretty sure that Hillary will cost him the election. And seems how I tend to be a liberal republican (as silly as that sounds) I am voting for McCain, so good for hillary… way to sink the democratic party as well as waste millions upon millions of dollars (why didnt she donate that to healthcare reform in the us? that is the problem with our politics these days…)

  87. jeff says – reply to this

    87

McCain can't even spell Obama!Let alone run a country! He's a simple minded ignoramous and would probably be worse than Bush. So i guess what i'm saying is that it'll be close because of all the racist gueezers and hicksters voting. Come on, were talking about a country that was dumb enough to vote Bush in twice and would probably vote him in a 3rd term if they could!!!But looking at the polls it appears Obama will sqeeze out the victory in November.

I'd love them together. But first she should file for divorce. Bubba has too many corrupt friends. How did they earn $109 Million dollars in less then 7 years! Not from speeches and book sales. Bubba is under contract to foreign governments to represent them with our government. Bubba also is tight with lobbyists, so is Hillary. Especially the drug companies. And he won't say who the BIG money people are who donated to his foundation or his library. When they investigate the Clintons, like they do for all the vice president suggestions, they will uncover more dirt and scandal and then it will blow up for Barack. Remember. The primary was 53% to 47 % so that means 53% of the people voted against Hillary. I heard a lot of Republicans crossed over and voted for Hillary bcz they were trying to stop Barack Obama.I like the idea of them together, but, I also think it has a lot of problems. Plus, he IS going to win. Then what! Hillary knows her way around the White House. Can he trust her or will he have to have eyes behind his back? And who can control Bill "Loose Canon" Clinton!

  92. sh... says – reply to this

    92

would be a terrible idea, too many people dislike Hilary and the whole Clinton clan, you would send a lot of undecideds to McCain, he needs Edwards as his running mate, help secure the white middle class vote

  93. whoaN says – reply to this

    93

What the fucking hell? Months of those two bashing each other NOW they want to show a united democratic front? I know there are a lot of idiots here in our great country but surely they can't think we all are FUCKING STUPID. I really liked Obama and McCain actually, but as of right now McCain has my vote. I know that you can't trust a politician but FUCK ME, are we really supposed to believe that Clinton is supporting Obama's nomination? Really? Seriously? I am SO over this shit. The democrats fucked themselves on this one. Idiots.

  94. 1n1 says – reply to this

    94

No, I think it will take away from republicans comtemplating voting for Obama. Not good, everyone's sick of the Clintons and their fakery. I am a republican and am/was considering Obama, but if he runs with Hillary, I will vote McCain. Do you know what taxes in this country will be like with O/H ticket? Good lord.

I can't wait to see how many blacks actually vote because "he is black"
I would guarantee crackheads, and idiots will even show up to the polls.

I believe blacks, whites & all others should have this opportunity as president
but Obama is not the answer and I think if he does win it will be because of the normally non-voting pop. showed up.

John McCain is the answer, experiece, integrity, war hero, republican nuf said!

um… people… this doesn't mean that he's named her as his running mate! she's just campaigning with him for a week… i mean i would prefer john edwards to be his running mate, but i guess hillary would get him more votes… as long as he wins, i'm alright with either of them.
