They could really do with going to Ikea. What a bland house…..
1st???
FIRST!!!!
and i thought we had it bad in this horrible economy, abusive, Fucked up country of America
Look at her. She is asking for it. Maybe if she learned to smile and put on some makeup, he wouldn't have hit her. He obviously used the ugly stick to beat her.
its a really good cause, but the stats they used are weeeeak… common, of course 60% of people know someone … it doesn't mean they know different people, but the way they stated this statistic makes it sound like they would all be knowing different people.
… they're just weak lol
Re: Tatia – are you a moron???? these statistics apply I"M SUREEEE in the states …. they're probably even worse … just because an organization from canada is posted, it doesn't mean that an american one doesn't exist… seriously did you even think before you typed?
no woman ever deserves abuse. ever.
Q: What do you say do a woman with 2 black eyes?
A: Nothin'. You done told her twice already
I am an American who briefly married a Canadian man. And he beat me to near death! What's wrong with these Canadaian's?
I live in Canada, and those number look very high, I had no idea.
Nobody ever deserves to be beaten. No kid ever deserves to see it.
I in the 49% that personally do not know anyone that has ever been abused.
I have seen this ad on TV though, and it is quite moving, it's more than just a picture.
A man has needs. Women forget what there main purpose is. To breed.
Give it up more, keep your mouth shut and you wouldn't be treated like shit.
Obvious Canadian women are dumber then American women.
I love you Perez and I must say that I love when you bring to attention the Domestic Violence issue. I am a Domestic violence case manager and this is one fight that we need to go to war for. I hope our politicos do not cut any of the funding that there is to help put an end to domestic violence.
Why do women marry an asshole and then have a dozen kids? Stupid.
While this is a sad predicament, I though Michael Moore said Canada was all safe and shit while the United States sucked. I guess MM really IS a lying liberal dousche bag
This is such a good cause. My friend's sister was killed by her boyfriend from abuse when she was 19. So sad…
Fuck Canada
OMG here you go again promting something you could care less about. This will not get you in Time magazine. You can stop already. We can all see right through you Mario
to this fat t person, fuck you! ur a bastard to even say that she deserved it. how someone can go on living and thinking its ok to hit another person. i hope u get what YOU DESERVE in life and karma can be a fucking bitch!!
OK, THAT'S SAD AND ALL……AND I KNOW NOT ALL PEOPLE THAT GO TO PEREZ'S SITE ARE FROM THE U.S. BUT WHAT ABOUT ALL THE WOMEN IN THE U.S. THAT NEED HELP?? HELP THEM FIRST, IF YOU ARE CANADIAN THEN GO AHEAD AND HELP THIS CHARITY. IF YOU ARE FROM THE STATES, HELP A CHARITY THAT IS FOR PEOPLE HERE, IN THE STATES.
There are just as many abused men. The only difference is that men are more ashamed to admit that they are being abused. As an aspiring counselor for abuse victims, I find it very important that people open their eyes and realize that abuse does not just happen to women and children.
I just want to say that this FABULOUS photograph and the accompanying TV spot was shot by one of Toronto's most talented advertising photographers, Per Kristiansen.
Thank you so much for bringing attention to this issue Perez!!!
perez this post is good. thanxx
A good and worthy cause, yes. HOWEVER, the cause of the day schtick is getting old, Perez. I mean, now much disposable cash do you think your average reader has to toss around to all of these charities? And know what? No matter how much you post all of these links, Brangelina will never love you, not really.
Ever hear of overkill? You and Brangelina have that much in common. After a certain point, it's all just noise.
Very good charity-however it should be a worldwide charity.
Thank you Perez! I work in a domestic violence program in PA and unfortunately violence against women is much more common than people think. It is people like you that draw attention to the matter.
I think we need to worry about the problems in our own country before we worry about other countries. No offense to them though.
THIS IS NOT A GOOD CAUSE!!!
THIS JUST PERPETUATES A STEREOTYPE THAT MEN ARE THE ABUSERS NOT WOMEN!!!!
DONATE TO AN ABUSE ORGANIZATION THAT FREELY STATES THAT WOMEN OFTEN ABUSE MEN AND CHILDREN THEMSELVES!!!!
What about male victims though? It's men who need someone to speak up for them, as no one seems to care about them.
OH PLEASE, BITCH, SMACK HIM UPSIDE THE DAMN HEAD WITH A FRYING PAN. HE HAS GOT TO SLEEP SOME TIME! LONG LIVE LORENA BOBBIT!
THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL LONG BEFORE THESE WOMEN EVER MARRY THESE DOUCHE BAGS. THEY ARE JUST STUPID ENOUGH TO THINK THEY CAN CHANGE HIM, OR THAT HE WILL CHANGE AFTER SHE POPS OUT A FEW RUG RATS. BOO HOO HOO, I WOULD NEVER ALLOW SOME MAN TO ABUSE ME! I'D FUCK HIS SHIT UP!
I work for the company who did this ad campaign and it has created a lot of awareness. I think a lot of you are insensitive assholes. Abuse is a unfair reality and some of your comments are so whack. I am a proud Canadian and for you to think it doesn't happen in the US or anywhere else in the world is so stupid.
Maybe the bitch should listen to him.
Only dumb women read the shit here.
When I was 15, I was being physically and sexually assulted by my boss. When I came out to a small group of female friends, I was shocked to learn 75% had been raped or sexually abused by family members and friends. Seriously. To this day, only a small group of those girls who confessed what happened to them ever really told anyone else. It is a silent epidemic in the US and Canada and one of the best things you can do is to bring awareness to the cause.
hey tatia, how fucking stupid are you anyway?
what is it about stupid women who refuse to pick up their sorry asses and just go…take the kids and go. go to the police, a shelter, a church, there are hundreds of organizations that assist women in this sad situation.
maybe perez ought to focus his attention on overeaters, self hating gays and let adults handle their own shit. stop the whining and get on with life.
by the way, everyone knows canada sucks.
perez how about you start supporting america???? fucking asshole.. there are women and childeren being beaten and abused in far higher number right where you get to live you fuckin piece of cuban shit!
go back where you belong if you can't support america and its causes!
Re: Fat T – You're an idiot.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS WORTHY CAUSE, PEREZ. IT'S IMPORTANT FOR AMERICANS TO REALIZE THERE ARE NEEDS IN OTHER NATIONS FOR PREVENTION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, NOT JUST IN THE U.S.
Re: JD – Whoa, hater much? Good god. Women stay w/ fuckers who are abusive because they are financially dependent on them, due to having to stay home and raise the kids. If they have no other family, shelters for violated women are a God-send. Now go away, JD.
Re: JD – My friend didn't even own a car, so she could get away, and when she tried calling the police, he said he'd kill her. So, there you have it. Anyone who says something as idiotic as "Canada sucks" doesn't merit my attention. End of subject.
Who the F cares about Canda? They have their own government to take care of these problems themselves. It's time that we focus our issues on domestic abuse in AMERICA. Did I miss something - are you canadian Mr . P? If not, let's see a little sympathy for those suffering here in the states!!!!
Melanie
It makes a Canadian happy to see this on your site=-]
And some people are just plain rude
This is for a good cause and for all of you assholes out there, you need to wake up breathe a little bit and realize that this isn't something to kid about. I was Sexually abused by a family member around the age of five and it lasted for 5 years or so. It hurt me so much you have no idea, what so ever. It traumatized me, and to this day, I still don't trust anyone because of this situation. This tears us apart. And for the dick head who said that us women's main purpose is for breeding maybe you should go fuckin' think again! We are for breeding, yes, as men are too, we provide care for our children and we help things like this become aware in society. It is serious, and for all of you fuck faces out there, I seriously hope some kind of karma comes around and slaps you in the face, and maybe then you will realize that you fucked up and that you shouldn't have said any of the bullshit you typed here!
Just because a site is supporting women doesn't mean that it's denying men are victims of abuse as well.
Way to go Perez on highlighting such a great cause. For all you losers who made comments about women, Canadian women, and just jokes in general about abuse you really need to get a LIFE!! You would think differently if that was your sister, mother or if that was you in that situation. Hopefully all you losers will get abused then maybe it won't be so funny anymore.
thats sick, why would you want to waste your life with someone who beats you, you only have one life, get outta there
guess that means i aint going to canada!
Hey Perezzers.. Just want to let you know that you rock.. Supporting all of these worthwhile causes is very honorable. Just wanted to thank you for being amazing… Keep on being u
PEREZ.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for putting this up. I think you should do more about dating and domestic violence on the site to raise awareness. So many people are ignorant to signs around them, and what abuse is really all about. I'm so glad this ad wasn't a poor latina with a black and blue eye. Abuse happens to all colors, shapes, sexualities, and social classes. We need to raise awareness in America to better the lives of these abused women, men and children. Help them learn to escape and rebuild themselves as a person. THEY ARE STRONG!
Re: Me –
-
I agree 'Me' abuse, Abuse does happen to MEN a lot — and it is equally as disturbing.
-
Abuse to all human beings needs to be addressed — not just to women and children.
Re: k –
-
I agree "K" — abuse by women towards children is very very BAD — and that is not always in the physical form.
-
Awareness of Abuse to all human beings needs to be addressed, not just men abusing women and children.
These people are morons. Shouldn't you be against violence againt ANYONE?
hahahahahhahahhaha
I see that add on the subway like every day, never did I ever imagine i would see it on PEREZ!!
lol
I love you perez
(not a funny cause…but funny that i saw it here)
What about the domestic abuse problems we have in the US??!! Fuck Canada they have it good over there…God you people are a bunch of idiots
And why does America have to step into the middle of every problem in every country? If we know have to help stupid men/women who stay in abusive relationships - that's just crazy. We don't even help the abused here in this country! I stand by what I said, and just hope the abusers don't make their way to the US (with our open borders and all).
Fine, give money to shelters, we need them, but
the stupid cunt will probably just go back to him.
No one can "help" these women until they decide
to leave for good. and how many kids have to suffer, how many cops
have to be killed trying to help til women step up and LEAVE.
I think women who go to shelters and then return to abusive men
should lose their kids and go to jail, along with the abuser.
And yes, I have been in an abusive relationship. I was being fucking stupid, but no one had the balls to tell me. Only I got myself out. And there is ALWAYS a way.
Re: hy – You are a fucking brilliant, and I wish I was like you when I was younger. I had no self esteem and I honestly didn't know I deserved better. I blamed myself for the abuse. But I figured it out, got the fuck out, and taught my daughter to think like you. You are fucking awesome. Love to hear it from a strong woman!
And 100% of men have had head games played on them by every woman they've met!
I'm from Canada, these stats don't seem legit at all
The statistics cited are hate and hogwash. In both canada and the US, women initiate severe spousal violence more often than men do.
Perez, if you are going to dislike husband abusers like Amy Winehouse and Sharon Stone and Heather Mills, you must know that feminist approaches to domestic violence are a hate crime.
If you don't believe what I'm saying, visit www.mediaradar.org and learn the truth.
One does not have to support radical feminists to be successful in Hollywood. Just ignore them.
okay what the fuck does canada have to do with our neglected country???? these sort of posts help you sleep at night? what the FUCK does canada have to do with US?!?!!!!!!!!!??????????????????????????? get your shit together, you have WAAAAAy to much influence, put it TO MORE USE other than i kissed john mayer or i love katy perry. fuckin grow a set you bitch. you're pathetic.
Re: Talar –
Thanks for writing one of the few thoughtful comments about this post. I applaud Perez for posting this ad to help raise awareness about violence against women everywhere - in Canada AND the US, and wherever women are being abused. It's too bad people aren't getting the message that it's about the issue and are instead focusing on how it's a Canadian campaign. It happens to be run by The Canadian Women's Foundation - Canada's only public foundation devoted to women and girls. And yes, the Foundation only operates in Canada and funds Canadian programs, but I'm sure there are similar organizations in the US. If you feel strongly about the cause then take the time to research charities in your area that address women's causes.
On another note, I'm shocked and appalled by the misogynist posts about this ad. All of the horrific comments about women deserving violence are absolutely sick. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. I try to not be anti-American but these comments make it tough…
I'm gonna stick to supporting charities that help Americans here in America. Canadians can help themselves and keep their mouths shut about how we need to vote for Obama. I'm sick of reading American-bashing Canadians all over the net.
SHE JUST NEEDS ONE UP-SIDE THE HEAD
AND ONE IN THE CRAPPER
REMBER GET YOUR PETS SPAID
Applause for you Perez! Thank you for bringing some additional awareness to this serious social problem. Here in the states violence against women is an problem of epidemic proportions. So much so that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (in Atlanta) is funneling millions of dollars into developing model anti-violence prevention programs targeting men and boys in an attempt to change the culture that supports violence against women. This means addressing sexism, racism, homophobia, classism and gender role stereotypes.
In our country intimate partner violence is so prevelant that 1 in 3 teenagers will be abused by their partner before they reach age 18. How about this: Women aged 16 to 21 are victims of crimes at higher rates than anyone else in our country.
Thank you, Perez, for bringing this issue to the attention of your legions of fans.
P.S. Canada is doing amazing things to include boys and men in ending violence against women. Google "White Ribbon Campaign".
Shelter from the Storm will help anyone who is abused and comes to them for help, it doesn't matter if you are a woman, child, or a man. ANYONE who needs help, please contact them.
The statistics may seem "weak" to some of you in here, but lets remember, there are only 33 million people in Canada, 60% of people knowing someone who is abused equals over 21 million people. The number actually seems a bit low, because I think that all of us know at least one person who is abused.
Please please please if you need help and don't know where to go, contact Shelter from the Storm, shelternet.ca, or womensshelter.ca in Canada
or
shelterforwomen.net or www.usattorneylegalservices.com/battered-women-shelters.html in the US.
Guys, these links will also work for you. These people can help you.
No one deserves to be abused!!!!!
What about all the abused women in the US, Perez? Maybe we should stick our efforts closer to home. Canada, as well as other countries, should fend for themselves. We don't see them helping our abused women, or helping us at all, for that matter.
That dude could smack me around a little.
This is a crock of shit. If someone doesnt like the way they are living they can just leave. Its a free country.
Oh please. Like you care, Perez.
You people are so freakin ignorant. I bet you the situation in the USA is just as bad or worse. In fact, I bet those numbers are low compared to the rest of the world. Women as a whole are still abused in many different ways, whether physically or emotionally. It's not just Canada. It's EVERYWHERE. We still have a long way to go before all people are considered equal, including "minorities", women and gay people. Not many people know about it because its a touchy subject, just like gay marriage and racism. People don't want to talk about it because "the man" makes it a taboo so that it doesn't get fixed and disturb the disgustingly skewed order of things, with white men at the top of it all.
perez is not an asshole! i think this is a good ad. women and children are abused by men, you men just don't understand
Re: CanadaGirlInHolland – I actually have worked for many organizations in RI and our system sucks. Doanations mainly go for clothing for the womens children. But nothing for the women as far as eduacation and the skills they need to get on their feet. The shelters do nothing for these women and that is why they end up back in the situation. It is no secret that Canada has a very very low crime rate, especially compared to america. In order for americans to be able to help other nations, we need to work on our own home first…just my opinion.
Perez,
You should look at CORA. It is a service/shelter in San Mateo County, just 30 minutes South of San Francisco. It is a wonderful cause. Knowledge is one of the steps in stopping the violence. Keep up the good work on worthwhile causes.
It must suck to model as the abusive guy in the ad.
Men are always the bad guys. Sorry but more children are brutalized and killed by thier mothers then any other form or violence wheres the outrage. Men are not spouse abusers ,men are not rapists, men are not child abusers and i for one am sick of being told I am a rotten human being because Im a man.
test
Perez, I love ya but why don't you post up about HELPING ABUSED WOMEN IN AMERICA. I know that people are people, but it's the same principle as the oxygen mask in an airplane…you put your mask on BEFORE you help others. I'm sure you get paid to post that up, but try getting sponsors from AMERICAN shelters. THanks for trying to do the right thing.
