Muppet Movie News!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall star/writer Jason Segel has been lined up to pen Disney's upcoming Muppet movie.

And, in a new interview, Segal revealed a few interesting tidbits about the Muppet movie script.

The movie is going to do things '80's' style - says Segal, "We are trying to bring it back to the early '80s movies where it's not Muppets in the Sahara or Muppets Underwater. It's the Muppets getting back together to put on a show, to save the studio.”

He also confirmed that Sam the Eagle is in the movie, as are Statler and Waldorf.

There's no word about a possible release date in the interview.

Will you guys see the Muppet movie?

They have to make it in 3-D!

    Hell yes. The original movie is one of my all time favorites. It is an awesome Christ story, complet with apostles and a frog giving himself a pep talk in the desert. I hope they really do throw it back to the beginning.

    Dang he really really like muppets doesnt he? In Forgetting Sarah Marshall there is a scene where he is playing the theme to the muppet show on the piano, and of course how he is working on his puppet version of Dracula. Strange obsession.

    I dont know about the 3D, they already have the Muppet 4D show @ Disney world which mixes live effects with a 3D movie, which is prob already better than a 3D movie alone would be.
