In The Interim

Highly respected former NBC nightly news anchor Tom Brokaw will be taking the helm at Meet the Press through the presidential election.

"I'm hoping I'll be able to hold it to the high level Tim (Russert) took it to and keep it in place for whoever is going to be the next host of Meet the Press, " Brokaw said.

NBC news president Steve Capus states, "Anybody who goes in there (Meet the Press) is going to be judged against Tim, which is unfair. The only one who wouldn't be is Tom. This is a real comfort to the entire news division. It eases some of the burden of trying to figure out a long-term solution."

Nice to see MTP will be in capable hands for the time being.

Perez, you still have not printed a retraction for the horrible his information you posted the other day about Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann. Don't you think you should do that.

I liked Tim Russert a lot, and had a lot of respect for him. I love Tom Brokaw; I grew up waiting to hear his distinctive voice on the NBC Nightly News. It says a lot when a 68 year old man is willing to come out of retirement to support his deceased friend's news program. It gives me renewed respect for Mr. Brokaw all over again.

I think he will do great. I miss Tom on the nightly news. He is just so sincere and trustworthy. I am sure he will do a great job. I will miss Tim too, but he is a great choice in the interum.

A good choice in the interim. Tom Brokaw is a respected journalist. Good decision by NBC. No one can replace Tim Russert, but this will do for now.

With Mr Brokejaw MTP will become an elitist , biased liberal machine . Not that it didnt already have such tendencies .

As long as it's not that jerk, Keith Olbermann. I totally lost respect for NBC because of him (and Chris Mathews, although, Mathews is not as bad as Olbermann). I can't think of any replacement for Russert, but I can deal with Brokaw.

Tom Brokaw is the best one for the job right now. He's a class act and being a friend of the Russert family only makes it an even better choice. Tim would be happy!!

Tim Russert is dead? What?! Oh my God….why wasn't that on tv? You would think someone would have mentioned it. Excuse me, I have to go kill myself now because the grief is overwhelming me.

At least Brokaw doesn't look so bloated that his face is going to burst any second squirting booze and puss all over the camera.

I think they should replace him with a woman since he disrespected women for so long and got away with it.

Tom Brokaw is a class act. Even though he's a liberal, he usually doesn't let it affect the excellent job that he does. Can't wait to see who they choose permanently. No Olberman, please.

I probably won't watch it anymore. I really don't care for Tom's voice. It kind of gets under my skin.

Tom is too network news– boring and repetitive. He's no Russert. Russert had his own style, unique opinion, and wasn't a rigid stick in the mud.
Sorry Tom, you and katie, and Brian are nice people, but you're talking meat puppets compared to cable's Olbermann, Mathews, O'Reilly (yuck) etc.

why all of this highfalutin talk about Tim Russert as if his name was Walter Cronkite or David Brinkley or something. MTP was nothing but a political tabloid show. Tim Russert asking the same questions over and over again was not a journalistic milestone…didn't he like ask everyone that went on the show if they were going to run for president??? at times when the elections were like 3 years away!!! Stephen Colber was on MTP…fuckin' Colbert was on MTP!!!! MTP was supposed to be a dignified, reliable, hard core news show whose main purpose was to supply the public with pertinent information about national politics and it's relevance in a global world. Tim Russert failed to do this, and he must not be forgiven for it, ever. Meet the Press was the name of the show not Meet Tim Russert, noone gives a fuck about the Buffalo Bills or any other Buffalo sports franchises. If you wanna show the world your personality there's place for it: YouTube.
Peace. I am out. Remember people, if we leave politics to the politicians they will turn into wear wolves.

Some men have a flag pin on their lapel, Tom Brokaw has a puzzle piece on his lapel. He is confused, thinks he's curing cancer, puzzled why some men would put a flag on their lapel.

Great choice. Tom was at his best durring this whole tradegy. Tim would have been proud. He earned my respect all over again. Tim can never be replaced but it will be nice to have Tom back for now. Good Luck Tom.

I tend to think Tim would approve of Tom doing MTP until a permanent replacement is named.

Puzzle piece on lapel = Autism Speaks
      Get a clue.
