This makes me incredibly sad. He was a huge part of my teen years and I am such a fan. His Filthy Words album is the only comedy album I ever bought. The man was brilliant. A legend. He will be sorely missed. This is just sooooo sad.

Charl, : Blink 182 has ripped off George Carlin, that's from his classic routine 7 things you can't say on TV, which is about 30 years old.

Ellen: IT'S FROM ONE OF HIS FUCKING ROUTINES, RELAX!

Re: Cat – Cat, I'm guessing you didn't read any comments before you posted yours. Every fifth one has lamented the loss of the Conductor. Some of these posts are actually quite fitting since Mr. Carlin spent most of his career observing and commenting on the stupidity of humans - he'd get a real eye-full here. RIP George - love his comparison of baseball and football - hilarious - spot-on - and amazingly, I don't think he swears!!! Wait, what?!

  28. Big M says – reply to this

    132

Damn! He didn't look 71, I guess that's why it took me by surprise.
    .
    .
And fuck you perez. "history of dependency." The guy took drugs in the 60s, when it was illegal NOT to. He had a heart attack like, 20 years ago and only made it to 71 (looking quite good) because he lived clean and sober.
    .
    .
So just concentrate on your diet, or when you RIP the news will say you had a history of DONUT dependancy.

i hope you're kidding. do me a favor and do some googling of george carlin. don't forget to add in "7 words".

you'll get a lot of hits, considering he was an absolute comedic LEGEND.

  40. FReal says – reply to this

    140

I certainly hope that MSNBCOBAMA will be covering this round-the-clock for the next 11 days like they did Russert. They didn't have to bury that guy, they just ran him into the ground.

  41. MaryJ says – reply to this

    141

This is killin' me. I grew up in the 70's and my family was very left-wing…I actually grew up listening to his albums etc.. with my brother who was much older then me. It really feels like a piece of my childhood is gone, and we've all lost a true comic genuis. No one made me laugh harder while taking a closer look at myself in the process.

  42. kfunk says – reply to this

    142

RIP, George. We lost a great one today. "Braindroppings" is one of my favorite books ever… "I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed."

Also: To whoever ripped Perez about mentioning George's "history of dependency": He went into rehab four years ago to help with addictions to Vicodin and alcohol. So, yes, he did have a history.

  43. Tonto says – reply to this

    143

    Re: isabe

Do you not have any friends or family of your own? It's disturbing that two strangers hold so much weight for you — well, Russert held enough weight for everyone — but still, if you are really that bothered by strangers dying, you may need to get out a bit more and meet some people. Good luck.

  44. 144

    That's really sad…
He was truly a comedy genius and it's a terrible loss to everyone who love to laugh.

Rest In Peace George! (Or as you referred you yourself once - Old Fuck)

  45. R.I.P says – reply to this

    145

R.I.P. George! To the stupid cunts who thought George ripped off Blink182….what assholes you are….you probably hear Bob Dylan sing All Along The Watchtower and think he's ripping off Hendrix!

  46. 0pini says – reply to this

    146

OMG The world has lost a great comic genius. His sarcisism about life and how people would take lt to seriously was brilliant. He will be missed. His voice as the conductor on Thomas the train was wonderful. My two year old grandson loves Thomas the train. He made me laugh especially about the seven words.. Classic comic genius. He is now making God and the angels laugh. May Mr George Carlin rest in peace.

Saw him in Chicago 4 yrs. ago- absolutely almost pissed my pants. In this world of great political-correctness, he was a relief to us who needed it. He genuinely cared about people who came and saw his shows. And yes- he made fun of everybody but truly cared about good people…
