This must sting.
It turns out that legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is not feeling the Sex and the City movie.
Westwood, at 67 years-old, created a dress that was worn by Sarah Jessica Parker's character in the movie, Carrie. She was also name-checked in the film.
But that hasn't stopped Vivi from stating that she was far from impressed with the work done by stylist Patricia Field for the movie.
Westwood says, "I thought Sex and the City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw. I went to the premiere and left after 10 minutes."
In fact, she called it "quite dull."
Ouch.
Then again, is Westwood really in any position to still be judging fashion????

Once the rednecks in the Midwest started "relating" to the show because it reminded them of "the way they are with their friends" I stopped watching it. When they started SATC tours in NY - that was quite a low.

I have to agree. Some of the clothes were nice, but they were not spectacular. As for the movie, I am huge "Sex and the City" fan, but the show was better. There was not enough comedy and the broken heart scene in Mexico was too much.

Vivienne Westwood has been at the cutting edge of fashion for decades. She is still featured in many of the world's most important fashion events. Her styles have always been cutting edge and out there, so I guess the fashions in the SATC movie would have seemed somewhat tame to her. However, in the movie, the fashions had to strike a balance between being attention seeking, while being realistic, and clothing 40-something women could wear without looking ridiculous. What did look ridiculous was the wedding dress, designed by Westwood, which absolutely swamped SJP's tiny frame, and had an ill-fitting bodice. The bird in the hair was just plain silly. In fact the girls make fun of it later in the movie. While Westwood is to be respected for her contribution to fashion, perhaps her opinions would have more credibility if she'd stuck around to watch the movie for more than 10 minutes!
By the way Perez, this is old news. It's been posted on another site for no less than 2 days…
