A $10 million Addams Family musical adaptation is scheduled to hit the Great White Way in the 2009-2010 season.

What a great idea!

And, Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth (who also played Lilith in Frasier and Velma in Chicago on Broadway) has signed on to play Morticia.

Loves it! PERFECT casting.

They couldn't have cast that role any better!

There's more!

Buzz is that renowned stage man Nathan Lane has been offered the role of Gomez.

Another perfect casting!

He hasn't officially accepted yet, but insiders say the deal should be finalized this week.

Can't wait to see this!

      Perez - there is a reason you are not a casting agent! (at least YET!)

      He will be totally miscast as Gomez unless he can tone it down and not play his one note wonder - over the top character.

      William Morris Agency Beverly Hills is in negotiations with Dr Rand Pink,the celebrity gynecologist to sign him to work on his new sitcom with Chelsea Handler. He also has a show being produced in New York with Momofuko for The Food Network. Also on the literary side of the agency he has also penned an autobiography about his transition from gynecology to huge commercial properties called From Rags To Riches. I guess he's in for more tabloid paps than pap tests the future.Gynecology like Gossip says Loose Lips… .

      Nathan Lane is NOT perfect as Gomez - he's not straight, not Euro enough - there are a lot of other people who could do that role justice - like Antonio Banderas (to name just one).

      No one is going to believe for a second that Nathan is anyone but Nathan. He's too New York to pull off Gomez. Quit trying to be an expert at such matters.       Bebe is perfect - I am sick of Nathan Lane. I heard firsthand from a long time Broadway theater staffer that Nathan Lane is the most two-faced, ugly spirited person behind the scenes. Then, the moment he is on stage, he is all benevolent and cheerful. Guess who she said is the classiest guy behind the scenes?? Antonio Banderas!!!

      Great casting, true, but I have no interest in this show. What about the Batman musical they've been talking about for like, uh, ten years? What about the Spider-Man musical they've been talking about for five years? Come on, you mean there are financial backers for an Addams Family show, but not these great heroes?!

      So if you payed attention, you'd know this is only a READING that they are signed on for. No final casting has been announced for the Broadway production. ALSO, Andrew Lippa (the composer) has been working on this for YEARS and it was only a matter of time before it was ready for a reading. Maybe…JUST MAYBE…you should read the WHOLE story before you report on it.

      Nathan Lane is going to be the perfect Gomez,he was awesome in the Producers and I can see him taking Max Bialystock and attatching Gomez to him, very similar characters in some ways
      and Bebe Neuwirth is going to be a perfect Morticia, she looks the part, and she's rocked Broadway before.
