I'm no great fan of Madonna, but it cannot be denied that she is as popular as ever. She has survived in the music business for 3 decades, so it would figure that she has become older at the same time! There aren't many singers, male of female, who can claim the success she's had. However, why is her age such an issue? She still looks great and is able to deliver the goods, so it's irrelevant. Why should she stop doing what she does so well just because she's reached a particular number of years? She claims that she will not be defined by her age. Why should anyone be? Why should certain types of work, activities and behaviours be considered appropriate and confined to a particular age group? Maybe there is an element of envy in some of the comments that blast her merely because she is nearing 50, while denying the fact that she still remains one of the most popular singers, whether you like her music or not. Ageism is an interesting concept. Whereas people who are racist, sexist or homophobic will never be what they put the other person down for, aging will happen to all of us. People tell me to sell my ticket, but when will I ever be able to say that I saw Madonna in front row again? NEVER. That will be my 10th Madonna concert I've seen. I've spent $1000's on her over the years for all my Madonna merch and it's worth every penny! She kicks ass on tour. I've heard LA isn't close to being sold out, so I doubt she'll add anymore shows there. Chicago's second date isn't sold out yet either. It's hard to justify spending a lot on tickets if you aren't a big fan with the economy doing so poorly
