Billionaires Have Bunions Too

opraaah.jpg

She should really get this taken care of!

Oprah showed off some gnarly bunions in London on Wednesday night.

How could Gayle let this go on untreated????

Looks painful!

These are removed by chiseling out the crud inside the bunion. After treatment the area is excrutiating painful for a very long time. Fair price to pay for wearing high heals?

That is why Oprah cannot really walk too well.
Remember when at the open of her show , she used to come through double doors and high five and shake hands with some of the audience as she walked toward the stage ?
Well , notice that hasn't happened for at least one season …
      Poor thing :(

OK, here are the facts from a board certified foot and ankle surgeon: Bunions are not always painful, but usually they are. Oprah has often told her audiences that her feet are very painful. The surgery is not that painful and does not require that you be completely off your feet. Most patients can walk out of the surgery center the same day in nothing but a bandage and a surgical shoe. Lastly, most insurance plans cover bunion surgery.

Everything about that foot is super sonic douche: hideous! Toes, nails, polish, pedicure, ashy fucking skin, bunions. For the love of god, get it dealt with Oprah! You can afford a better appearance than this. And yeah, why is she barefoot in London? Paging Amy Winehouse. (Who does occasionally wear her ballet slippers.)

That's hammer toe, or hallux valgus. Not bunyons. It's hereditary so she probably canät help it. Posh Beckham also has it (and has had surgery for it, I think).

    36. Molly says – reply to this

      236

Bunions are not caused by wearing high heels. My grandmother never wore heels in her life and had them. I had them by the age of 12, long before I ever wore heels. People with flat feet are more likely to get them due to the abnormal pressure on the big toe. Heredity plays a very large part, too. Wearing high heels will make them feel worse, but they usually are redponsible for hammer toes, mostly because people but the wrong shooe size. Anyway, I did have the surgery, it hurt, but only for a couple months and you can walk on it, just wearing a cast or boot. It's been 7yrs and I have no pain at all and I wear heels all the time!

That turns my stomach! Yes, they are painful to get fixed but do it for Christ's sake before it gets worse. Both of my sister in law's have them quite severely but at least one of them has had the surgery done. Her feet look great. The other sister in law will have it done as soon as she is done popping out children. She has a few of them. Children I mean, not feet.

    66. Valer says – reply to this

      266

NoNY - you are a moron, the NY podiatrist was right! I had it done, and I wa on crutches for 2 days, pain meds for 3 days. Surgical small boot for 1 week, and a walking cast for 1 month. I went to a walking cast quickly because I needed to be able to work. After about a month of the walking cast, I went to a running shoe. Six months later, I am in heels again. I have to be careful and wear the right heels, and also, sometimes I switch to a flat during the day.
Now, six months after my surgery, I still have some slight swelling, but no pain. In order to remove the bunion and keep it from coming back, the doctor needs to break the big toe bone in your foot (tarsal) and pin it in place where it should be. That is in addition to the shaving off of the bone on the side the toe. Did you have bunions on both sides? Did you have both feet done at once? Sounds like you being in a wheelchair, crutches and a cast sounds like your podiatrist is a problem!

    67. lulu says – reply to this

      269

I had a bunion removed on my right foot about 5 years ago. The surgery itself was fine, but I had to spend 6 WEEKS in bed with my foot elevated in a cast so the bones could heal properly. Walking on crutches around the house & to the bathroom was a pain. By the end of 6 weeks I was going stir crazy and couldnt WAIT to get back to work and even then I had a walking cast put on for another 5 weeks. Then I had 4 weeks of physical therapy. My foot look fabulous now, but man it was a long and brutal process.

I doubt Oprah could or even want to take that kind of time away from her show. Also, not all bunions hurt. Mine didn't, I had it corrected strictly for cosmetic reasons. And insurance paid for it! Score!
