Tennis "star" Maria Sharapova just lost big time to a player ranked at 154!
Sucks.
Sharapova was beaten during the second round at Wimbledon on Thursday by fellow Russian Alla Kudryavtseva.
She was defeated 6-2, 6-4.
Poor Sharapova.
Just four years ago, at the age of 17, she defeated Serena Williams at Wimbledon.
Looks like Sharapova spent too much time worrying about fashion with her "tuxedo" top and short shorts, when she should have been practicing to win.
Is it time to retire????

Her endorsements aren't necessarily in jeopardy - they would be if she were to lose her good looks. Kournikova never won and she maintained popularity, Sharapova has won 3 tournaments. She's just incredibly inconsistent and she always has been, this is no surprise.

I actually watched the match and while yes she focus' too much on her fashion something was really bothering her on the court today. However the other chick also had something to prove as she lost to Venus Williams last year and was determined to win. Just because Sharapova lost, does it not mean the other player could be good?
But she really did not play well and has had a string of withdrawals and did not play a lead up grass tournament to Wimbledon. This can be important as the surfaces are so different from clay which was her last tournament (the French Open). She even bragged about going home to Florida, not training and sitting reading cook books and drinking coffee.
As much as I might sound like a stupid pratt, something else was up with her on the court today. It could be her shoulder again.
Also just because she has a bad game doesnt mean you should retire. She just had a bad day!!!

Perez, I'm pretty ashamed of you. Maria's an awesome player and she's serious about her game so she practices alot. As a tennis player, I would definitely be offended if someone claimed I wasn't working hard enough. Practice has nothing to do with why Maria lost. It was a mental thing, cause tennis is mostly a game based on mentality. Mentally, Sharapova just wasn't at her best state.
