Sequel On Hold

The guy who directed Cloverfield revealed that plans for a sequel have been put on hold until the filmmakers can come up with an idea as 'interesting' as the original.
Hopefully that will never happen!
They're trying to find new ways to make movie goers puke?
"The thing that we sort of promised ourselves is we only wanted to do another one if we could come up with something that felt as fresh to us to make as that one did," said the director.
So there's a good chance we may see nothing at all?
Some of the ideas for the next film include a prequel that would go into the backstory of the creature that attacks New York in the original or a parallel story set on the same night with different characters.
The Cloverfield director said that both of those ideas have been under discussion.

Uh hell to the no. I went and saw the first one when i was visiting my Fiance' and instead of having fun that night, he had to pump me full of dramamine, give me lots of sprite to calm my stomach, and put me into bed. I will NOT be going through that extreme amount of nausea EVER again…..

I loved Cloverfield. I don't particularly think there needs to be a sequel, but the fandom has been very receptive to exploring the story from another camera angle.

they totally stole the idea for the first one from the korean film The Host which was waaaaaay better and did not give the veiwer motion sickness. They postponed this sequel to the unoriginal first film because the sequel to The Host has been announced and they are just waiting to ripoff more of their ideas!

HELL NO!!! I so wouldn't see it! I hated the first one. I didn't mind shaky camera at all, thought the way they shot the movie was good. The only reason I watched it was for the monster! It was so lame and not at all scary, there are better looking monsters in the new Hell Boy movie

I would never go see a sequel for the fucking movie! It made me want to barf the whole time I was watching it. If I would have seen it alone with my friends I would have walked out after 10 minutes, but I couldn't leave so I had to stay through one of the worst movies I have EVER seen. Just about as bad as Black Christmas.

Perez, have you researched all of the viral marketing for the movie? I didn't know about it until after I saw the film, but it made the movie so much better! It's actually so much more than a monster movie with a shaky camera. It's amazing all the work that they put in to make is seem like it was really happening, creating companies, myspace pages, etc…
