There is a sense of self-empowerment or recapturing who you are by people calling you ‘fag,’ and being like, ‘Yeah, I am a fag.'" = When someone calls you something, such as a "fag" you sometimes feel threatened [or like you're "smaller" than they are] so sometimes it's just natural to respond that "yeah you are a fag" [in this case] because it's like saying yeah, sure I am and what are you going to do about it?! It leaves the person shocked.
