Eddie Murphy has revealed to TV Extra that his upcoming movie, Meet Dave, is one of his last.
The funny man says, "Fifty years (old) I'll have been making movies thirty years and I have close to fifty movies and it is like why am I in the movies…I've done that part now. I'll go back to the stage and do standup."
Amen.
He should have retired YEARS ago!

I disagree with you perez. Eddie has done a lot of funny stuff, some might be off but he's still funnier than a lot of other comedians.
He made this same claim back when Dr. Doolittle came out and he was getting ready to do Shrek. He said then, though, that he was only retiring from live-action movies and was only going to do cartoon voice-overs and then stand-up on stage. With another few Shrek movies planned, I wonder what he will decide to do.
I have loved Eddie Murphy's movies over the years. Let's be honest, Coming to America is one of the greatest comedies of all time. But, if retiring from movies means that he is going back to stand up comedy, then I am all for it. He is the greatest stand up comedian of all time!

Most of his movies are crap. But with 6-7 kids to support, I guess he had to make them. 'Dave' looks just as crappy as Norbit. I bet my bottom dollar it's gonna be the Razzie award's worst picture of the year. Norbit was cheated last year, although those Lindsay HOHAN flicks were bad.

Sheesh Perez….what the hell do you have up your ass about Eddie Murphy? The guy has given the public some of the best stand-up, movies, and television ever. He, and Richord Pryor before him, broke a TON of ground for comics. People should look up his SNL stuff on Youtube, or watch 48 hours…..he is incredibly funny. Just because he mellowed in the last decade and did some family type films dosen't mean he's an asshole or washed-up. He just wanted to do other things. Most actors would die to be in the position to be able to make any type of movie they want, and because of all the money he has made the industry, he can do it. In the last few years he has done Shrek, Dreamgirls, Bowfinger…he was brilliant in all of them.
I hope he does go back to stand up….I was too young to see him back when, so it would be killer to see him now.

Never say never to movies, though. He doesn't always have to be leading man; some meaty character roles in ensemble movies would allow him the versatility to stay interested but not overly committed, improve his skills in areas other than comedy, make new friends, and bring some (not very needed here) coin in.

His timing and facial nuance along with physical comedy are amazing, but he could have upped his game considerably when it came to beautiful Mel and child.
