I'm a republican but I'm not a fan of President Bush. I would like to know though how the rising gas prices is his fault. Is the president supposed to make companies sell the gas at lower prices? If u want to blame the president for the gas prices, don't stop with just him. Blame the entire government bc this problem could have been solved a long time ago if we had started drilling in the US for our own oil. We have oil here. We don't need to get it from other countries. Oh wait the deomocrats in congress are supposed to be "enviroment friendly". actually…. a litre is a lot less than a gallon… there are about 3 litres in a gallon so in the UK we are paying nearly £4 for a gallon which is $8!
Last week I paid EURO 1,74 (!!!) per LITRE (!!!!!!). That's USD 10,50 for a gallon!!!!!!! Last December, when I was in Michigan, it felt like HEAVEN at the gas station….

In Canada our gas prices are much higher! In Ottawa, Ontario it converts to $5.08 a gallon and in Montreal, Quebec it converts to $5.61 a gallon. Wish our gas was so cheap!

Good. Gas prices have been artificially low in this country for far to long. Compared what the rest of civilized world pays 4.00 is cheap. There needs to be a major shift if how we choose to live our lives in this country. Mom does not need to drive a Yukon 50 miles each way to work because it looks good. Dad does not need to drive the F150 when the subway will take him to the same place.
Along with our conspicuous consumption we also need to address the failed economic policy of this administration. The weak dollar does nothing to stabalize futures of anything, be it oil, natural gas or agricultural intersest.
Gas prices will never be "cheap" again and they shouldn't be. Change your habits people.

Well, fuck those people, lets start using those roads for we the people! Buses! Buses should be clean, safe, frequent, and go all over the country, to every little town, every neighborhood. If Mexico and Costa Rica can do it, why can't we? Demand buses! Safe, clean buses that have useful routes! The crappy bus system we've got sucks, but it's a beginning. We spend US$100,000 a MINUTE for the stupid war in Iraq (and do you think the oil companies we're subsidizing with our money and blood are going to give US taxpayers a break on oil? HAH). I am sitting in an office right now where 17 out of 31 people drive SUV's. We barely get snow and there's not many hills. No one has ten kids either that they need to transport. The 21 year old kid who's summer help drives a brand new Tundra. Most of the family members of our employees drive SUV's as well. I drive a fucking Matrix because I live 30 miles away and watche the fucking news and SAW THE WRITING ON THE WALL. How fucking stupid is most of the US? Oops, I forgot. Ok people, you need to READ a little more on the subject…the prices are so high because, Foreign demand is high (did any of you people take economics classes???) and our precious america dollar is not worth what it used to be. The solution is to allow americans to drill more on american soil. The drawback? Producion will have to be in areas that will have to compromise the enviroment. SO you choose, higher gas prices to save the enviroment or compromise the enviroment to save $2.00 to $3.00 a gallon. Jessi is right, our gas prices are so much lower than Europe. It was $4.00 a liter (that is much less than a gallon folks) back in the early 90's.

For most americans filling the gas tank for the car won't be the problem. It will be heating their homes in the winter. Let's also remember that many of the countries with sky high prices also have a government that provides them with health care and post-retirement care. Lots of extras, paid for with taxes of course, but there is a great sense of security. They don't have these huge expenses to deal with PLUS high gas prices. And yes, great point, getwi. Foreign countries are exploding in growth and have excellent economies requiring more oil because the stupid dickheaded americans demand low cost crap at Wal-Mart.

We need to start changing our societies to be more like Europe. Better public transportation, and everything within walking distance. Here we need to walk a long way to get essential goods, like groceries or whatever. Bring back the small neighborhood stores and we won't need our cars.

Hi Perez, hope you had a good weekend. Well gas in my little town hit $4.59.9 a gallon here for unleaded early last week at most stations on route 44. The news at 5 here [according to what my neighbor just called to tell me] is that it will be $5.50 a gallon within two weeks. After California, Ct. is the worse, we've a 61cent state tax alone on each gallon.
And we've the highest electic rate in the nation which has doubled twice in three years and is now going up an average of $2.00 per household next month. I've electic heat as well as a/c. Soon, I will probably live in my car unless I can get to Grand Cayman and live on 7 Mile Beach. Not a soul running for President that I want, in fact with either one we're doomed. Expecially OBAMA who wants to raise all our taxes..
