Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy was arrested Tuesday night in St. Louis on one charge of third-degree assault.
He pulled a Wino and beat up a concertgoer!
McCoy and crew had just finished the first song of their Warped Tour set when a black audience member near the front row called the lead singer a “fucking ignorant n—-r.”
As security was removing him from the crowd, McCoy reportedly reached down and hit the heckler on the head repeatedly with his microphone.
McCoy apologized for his violent reaction and said it wasn’t representative of him as a person. “I’m sorry. But when someone calls you something that ignorant and that offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone,” said McCoy.
Was resorting to violence the thing to do, though?
McCoy was released early Wednesday morning on $500 bond.

For the record, as someone who spoke to an inside source on the tour: Travis called out the kid and was going to bring him on stage so kids could heckle him for his ignorant remarks. (The kid was biracial and was with his two brothers that were black.) As security was helping the kid up, Travis reached down to pull the kid onstage with him. The kid noticed Travis' leg brace (he hurt his leg + had mult surgeries on his knee) and pulled on it - THAT's why he hit the kid with the mic - as a reaction to the assault/pain the kid did to his leg. Both were arrested (the kid was also arrested on assault) and once Trav posted bond he was free to go, no problems. The heckler on the other hand is still in jail on outstanding warrants for his arrest. His band isn't getting kicked off of Warped - they saw it as an act of self-defense and are allowing them to stay on the tour.

i was there & saw the whole thing. Travis called the guy out & he even admitted to saying that. Then he asked him to come up to the stage & he just started whaling on him with the microphone. the guy deffenetly deserved that. No way in hell is that acceptable to call someone that, especially someone you don't know. When Travis appologized to the croud we were cheering him on! I loved what he did!

I live in St. Louis and I think that the ampitheater that the incident took place in is just prone to stupid audience member violence. Axl Rose was arrested there awhile back for leaping off the stage and attacking a concert goer because the guy was heckling and taping the concert. Ignorant people in the audience need to slow their rolls and leave the bands alone!

I was working the concert when it happened, and it was not as violent as people are saying. I personally think the guy deserved it, but that's my opinion. The show was still awesome and the crowd still had a good time.
