If They Make Another Batman Movie…

As you know, the upcoming movie The Dark Knight will feature Batman battling it out with the Joker and Two Face.
The original plan was to have the Joker, played by Heath Ledger, return for the next film.
However, given that after his death they more than likely won't recast for the role, some changes have been made and the next villain has been revealed.
If another Batman flick is made, he will then be going up against the Riddler.
The last Riddler was played by Jim Carrey in Batman Forever, though no word on if he'll return. More likely than not - he won't.
Actor Gary Oldman, who plays Lt James Gordon, says of casting choices for the next film, "I don't see why not. I mean, they did it with Katie Holmes' character. I understand that this is a different circumstance, but I think another actor could do the job. I think Heath would want another actor to do the job. Maybe we don't need the Joker. Because we'll have The Riddler."
Katie's character, Rachel Dawes, will now be played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. You know Katie is too "big" now for a Batman movie.
We'll have to watch The Dark Knight first before we even consider watching the next film….though this one is getting GREAT reviews!

I never really thought Katie Holmes was a good actress. She is ok at best. Now, ever since she hooked up with captain douchebag, I don't care to see her in anything. She'll most likely suck on Broadway as well.

If they are going in order of the original batman movies, then the penguin and catwoman are the next villans in the lineup. Not sure who could play penguin, but how sweet would it be to see charlize theron as the next catwoman.
Only one person can replace Heath and do the part Justice. Joseph Gordon Levitt yes the kid from 3rd rock from the sun. Just watch Brick and the Lookout to see how insanely good he is.

So let me get this straight…Katie is "too big" for a Batman movie now, but she isn't too big for that debacle of a film "Mad Money??" I obviously haven't seen The Dark Knight yet, but I'd venture to say that every Batman film until now has been a hell of a lot better than Mad Money. Pshh!

As long as they DO NOT BRING IN ROBIN, I'll be okay with the movie.
The introduction of Robin was the downfall of the original franchise.

the Riddler will obviously be played by Crispin Glover. I don't think that there's any intention of following the villain progression from the earlier flicks.
And, Heath Ledger isn't being honored and respected and awarded for being "a drug addict".. What a fucking ignorant thing to say. Are we supposed to pretend that he wasn't a great actor because he overdosed?

Katie got dropped from the Batman franchise because she spent too much time publicizing her relationship with Tom and not promoting the film. Get your facts straight.

It's not that Katie Holmes is too "big" for a Batman movie. The producers actually fired her ass because while she was promoting Batman Begins and Tom Cruise was promoting War of the Worlds back in '05, the producers grew tired of all the TomKat bullshit and decided it was best to distance themselves from her…turns out they were right.

You have to remember that Nolan is sticking with a "keep it as real as possible" angle when it comes to his take on Batman. So the more fantastic villains from the Batman mythos probably won't ever appear in the Nolan-Bale series.
I figured that the Joker lives at the end of The Dark Knight and is locked up in Arkham Asylum. He could appear in a few scenes in the next film and then break out in the end, Hannibal Lecter-like. And, in a twist, maybe it would be Batman who has to break him out for some reason. Dr. Harlen Quinzel should help break him out. (Yes, I am a Batman nerd.)
So I definitely want to see the Joker around. But I couldn't figure on an actor who could take over the role from Ledger, not merely copy Ledger's performance but EVOLVE it from that point. However, someone suggested Joseph Gordon Levitt — and I think he could be a good choice!

Joseph Gordon Levitt? really? I'll admit that I haven't seen most of the shitty movies he's been in… but, really? you don't have to look like Heath Ledger to play the Joker. Heath Ledger doesn't look like the Joker. I'm sure that there is someone better than the 3rd Rock kid. Sure, he looks a little like Heath Ledger. But, could he follow Heath Ledger's PERFORMANCE as Joker? Doubt it. I doubt that they'll bring the Joker back in the next movie. Maybe in a subsequent film. But, not the next one.
Katie was even too shitty for Dawson's Creek. The only reason she married Tom was so that she would have something to fall back on after her career died. Guess she didn't realize what kind of crazy she was getting in to.

If you watch the trailer you see the district attorney Harvey Dent on the floor with what seems to be acid all around him and on his face, and he's screaming… To me, that indicates that the next vilan is going to be Two Face… Thoughts?

Re: Johnn – I agree with you and I think they were trying to keep it sort of a secret from those who are not Batman nerds like me. I also think that if the Joker comes back in another Batman movie they should include Harley Quinn. The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, The Penguin and Mr. Freeze were all in the previous Batman movies but I would like to see the director Christopher Nolan to take a darker turn with them like what was done with the Joker. Oh and Maggie is a far better choice than Katie because post-Tom she creeps me out.
the first and only person who could do justice to the joker roll is Johnny Depp! He's a great actor and I could see him playing a psychotic or even comedic Riddler.

Everyone knows Jim Carrey is allergic to sequels, and I think he's very wise in that sense. Although i would LOVE to see him reprise his role as the Riddler.

I want Jim Carrey to play the Riddler, he did such an amazing job the first time around. Please, Please, Please have Jim Carrey play the Riddler! I hope that the Dark Knight is better than Batman Begins but I will definitely see the sequel to the dark knight if jim carrey is in it. I love him so much. He's so funny!!!!!!
I always wanted to see Robin Williams as the Riddler. Probably would have made more sense in the Jim Carrey one, but I could work. Crispin is a good idea though. Penguin seems like it would be a tough one to cast.
I'm watching TDK because of Maggie Gyllenhaal. If Katie was still playing Rachel i would NOT WATCH the movie.
MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL IS AMAZING! And a much better actress for the role (or any other role for that matter) than Katie Holmes.
1.) Okay, so I love love LOVE Gary Oldman, but he's out of his damn-fool mind if he thinks anybody else can play The Joker in this franchise. C'mon Gary. C'mon.
2.) The movie is only gonna be that much better without Katie Holmes stinking it up. Every review that I read of "Batman Begins" when it came out was that it was brilliant…except for Katie Holmes. Maggie Gyllenhal is a fantastic actress, and I love her. This movie is gonna be so FUCKING BADASS!!!
