Barack Obama wants all you Democrats to know that the upcoming convention is yours, not his.

According to his campaign, on Thursday, August 28th, the Presidential hopeful is scheduled to formally accept the Democratic nomination in a speech at the convention hall in front of the assembled delegates.

BUT, instead, Obama will leave the convention hall and join more than 75,000 people for a huge, free, open-air event where he will deliver his acceptance speech to the American people.

Free tickets will become available as the date approaches.

If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person.

Each of the ten supporters who are selected will be able to bring one guest to join them.

Sweet.

Nice that Barack is thinking outside the box and really building some major buzz.

      Re: hotki

You expect a Democratic Presidential candidate screaming for change to be for gay marriage. Unfortunately, you also expect Republicans to be against it, so no I am not surprised McCain opposes it. However, I am surprised Obama does, but then again he is trying to win over the evangelical vote, and he is saying all that he can to do that, so, maybe he doesn’t really mean it.

I'm voting for McCain but I can at least recognize that the difference between these two candidates is nil, anyone who thinks otherwise (ie that Obama will actually "CHANGE" anything), is sleepwalking through this election and life. They're both the same when it comes down to it- crooked, rich, will sell you out to get what they want…etc etc

If you have to attack candidates based on their gender, age, or (eeek!) race, then your arguments are weak and should be ignored. Grow up and argue like an adult.

(And if you think McCain is an old fart, you might want to google his war experience. Maybe his 5 years as POW is why he's so tired and crotchety? Would YOU be able to withstand what he went through?) STICK TO THE ISSUES

Re: Cayce – While I understand that gay marriage is an important issue here in the states, I do not think politcally, gays have enough support in government in general to get support for key gay issues. Obama is not on the far left of the Democratic scale and to be honest this two party system is what is dragging the US down b/c your stuck choosing the "lesser of two evils" and not a candidate that speaks on everything you think government should be. Good luck finding that.

ALSO: since gays for the most part hate Bible thumpers why take a biblical term such as "marriage" what's wrong with civil union? I know both are unequal but ONCE made Equal in defintion if this is what gays want, why still object to the term of Civil union? I go back and forth with my gay friends on that and don't get it. If civil unions were to be the same in definition of marriage why push for the term that carries a religious undertone?

Its sad when a presidential election is manipulated by the propaganda of the media. The liberal media is always praising how great he is, but if you have been watching the news lately then you would know that he is now saying he doesnt know when he is going to have troops leave Iraq, accepting public funds, and becoming more moderate. Not to mention his racist preacher that he had been going to for 30 YEARS!!! BS that he never heard his racist tirades.
He has ZERO EXPERIENCE IN ANYTHING!!!
