R.I.P.

The Chicago Tribune announced Tuesday that they are going to be cutting 80 of 578 newsroom jobs.

The fired journalists can join all the other recently laid off newspaper casualties in the unemployment line, if they can afford the gas to drive there!

So sad when all we read is crap (CNN) online and then watch the same biased crap on TV. Our kids can't even think for themselves anymore. A whole generation of teachers telling our kids in school how and what to think. Beam me back to the 50's where I learned how to read, write and do math.

I got out of the newspaper biz in the nick of time! To my fellow ex-print journalists: I'm thinking of starting a support group for jaded scribes who became newspaper men and women for noble reasons only to be kicked in the balls over and over again by the business. Let me know if you're interested.

It's sad to me that I'm now almost grateful to have my lame $8.04/hour retail job because so many people in the country are starting to lose their jobs. I feel like our country is on a path to self-destruction.

The people who were laid off who are talented will find new and better, more stable jobs, hopefully in an industry that is not dying (ie print media).

The people who were laid off who are NOT talented will become celebrity gossip mongers.

The economy will take care of both categories of people, as it always does. Simple 12th grade economics, people.

Re: Cindy – We go through this every four years, its called an election. The economy is crumbling, the sky is falling etc. We dig at each other but foreigners should understand, we can come together in a heartbeat! I just have an awful feeling, about this election, were are going to be tested hard, but have no doubts, we are all Americans!

The newspapers are failing because they were bought out by publicly traded corporations who expect growth every quarter. Newspapers are extremely profitable, as they make the majority of their money of of ads, and classifieds, but they don't "GROW" they make the same profit margin every year. So the only way to make them look like they are "growing" is to cut the labor force, which makes the balance sheet look better. This has been widely reported, there is more the the story than simply newspapers are dying. Most newspapers used to be owned by families, extremely wealthy families but not so anymore.

See it boils down to this, smart people follow the news. This is why papers like these are loosing readers. There base are liberals and democrats and they are failing to follow the news. Liberals and Dumocrats would rather just believe what they want without any research. This is why Rush controls the radio and Fox controls the TV news. Smart people follow news and most smart people are conservative ! Bottom line.

PEREZ, your still a DOUCHEBAG. Teddy does not like it when you put your finger in his ass !

Are these people EVER going to get it? Are WE ever going to admit it? Todays version of a newspaper is little more than PROPAGANDA for some liberal or wacko organization or cause. Thinking people are sick of it. They know there is no real news offered. Just stories telling us how we need to give everything we have built to invaders from around the world who want it. You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. Good Riddance to these useless, lying rags.
