Almost 12 years after the death of 6 year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, new findings have finally cleared the family's name!
Prosecutors were able to clear JonBenet's parents and older brother Wednesday for the unexplained killing.
According to the district attorney Mary Lacy, new DNA tests point to an unidentified outsider.
Lacy wrote in a letter to JonBenet's father, John, "To the extent that we may have contributed in any way to the public perception that you might have been involved in this crime, I am deeply sorry. No innocent person should have to endure such an extensive trial in the court of public opinion."
Yea, it's a little TOO late for sorries from her.

According to Lacy, it was the new "touch DNA" tests that were done on skin cells left behind on JonBenet's long underwear that point to a third party and not a family member.
As for John Ramsey, he remains hopeful that the killer will now be found thanks to the new DNA evidence.
He says, "I think the people that are in charge of the investigation are focused on that, and that gives me a lot of comfort. Certainly we are grateful that they acknowledged that we, based on that, certainly could not have been involved."
Unfortunately for JonBenet's mother, Patsy, she never lived to be cleared of her name. Patsy passed away in 2006 at the age of 49 due to ovarian cancer.
An attorney for the Ramsey's said, "My first thought was obviously I wish Patsy Ramsey was here with us to be able to at least share vindication of her family. There are many people in this country, if not around the world, that also owe John and Patsy Ramsey and Burke Ramsey an apology."
Despite the fact that police found a drop of blood on JonBenet's underwear that matched it to the DNA of a male not belonging to the family, prosecutors argued that they were unable to determine where that blood came from or that it was even the killer's.
But now the new touch DNA tests taken from the sides of JonBenet's long underwear matched that of the original blood DNA found years ago.
Hopes are that one day they can find a DNA match in the expanding national DNA databank.
Let's hope they find the killer as soon as possible.
The family deserves some rest and millions of apologies.

wow, the benefits of advancement in technology. i always thought they were guilty or something seemed fishy (it seems more guilty before proven innocent in the public's view these days) but i'm glad they were able to finally clear their name! sad thing is though, means the criminal has been walking around the last 12yrs!
Evidently the whole family was cleared by the lie detector test very early on!!! Why not publicize it! I always thought they were guilty because of the media. They were innocent, and to loose a daughter and let the public think they were guilty made the murder even more horrific!

What makes this whole thing suck is the police force in Denver didn't treat the house like a crime scene until it was too late, which permitted people to move about freely and destroy a lot of critical evidence. The Denver Police Department are as guilty as anyone in no one being brought to justice. They messed up bigtime.

I'm so glad this has finally happened. It should have happened a long time ago and I'm sure it takes a lot off the mind of John and Burke Ramsey and the rest of their family. I only wish Patsy could have lived to see this day. I pray to God that soon they will be able to make the sicko who did this pay for his actions.

I am so happy that the family has been cleared in this horrific crime. What hell they have lived with all these years. The stress did kill Patsy.
I never judged them, but always felt very sorry for them. My hope is that eventually they find the person responsible… probably someone who saw her while she was in some beauty pageant somewhere.
yeah, but they dressed the kid like a painted whore and pranced it around the neighborhood. I believe the Ramsey's may have indirectly contributed to death. Regardless, it should be criminal to make up your kids like the one pictured above.
Perhaps if they hadn't refused to be interviewed until 4 months after the murder and then not again until a year later, they wouldn't have been perceived as guilty. I know I would do everything in my power to have myself eliminated so the police could look for the real killer. Avoiding being interviewed by the police doesn't usually look good! I just read the entire transcripts from the police interviews, and they sure sounded guilty to me.
The parents fueled the fire about themselves by their behavior and unwillingness to cooperate. They sure looked guilty as hell.
I have been saying all along that it was a disgruntled, jealous parent from the beauty pagents. It happened in Texas, it has happened alot.
um…this doesn't exempt the possibility that they hired someone or were involved in another way. or just smart. the father is a sympathetic character, but did everyone forget the verified stories about JB's fucked up mother and her relationship to her daughter? It's a little too If Joan Crawford Were a Stage Mother for me to believe the entirely family is innocent.

Finger prints on the pants cleared them? After all these years I'm sure those pants have been touched, in fact what about the very day of the crime after he carried her upstairs and all the people gathered around her. I can't imagine a parent hurting their child but compare the ransom note to Patsy's hand writing. It is an identical match.

you never can tell from appearances. Heck, I thought Martin Tankleff killed his parents (NY) and he was just set free. So, you know, a person's demeanor doesn't tell it all. And who knows how the media is slanting things. They edit out what they want, and put a slant on things. I saw an investigative report a few years back regarding the Ramsey case. It could very well have been a stranger, and there was evidence indicating as such. The cops did a crappy job.
god, i remember when geraldo was shooting his mouth off night after night, HEAVILY implicating the parents. i remember thinking at the time that if those folks were innocent, geraldo deserves his own worst nightmare to come true.

The Lacy DA is NOT the one who originally prosecuted the case. Pacy took over for that guy and after reviewing the file immediatey stated she did not believe it was the family.
I for one apologize for thinking that one of the family members had something do to with this child's death.
Hopefully this gorgeous little girl is happily with her mom in heaven now. I to believe that it was someone who knew them, and someone from those creepy padgents they should have never displayed this little girl like that… but who would ever think that she would end up this way. Little girls need to be little girls and need to stay far far away from disgusting older men, sexual perversion is on the rise with all this pediphiles, fags, bisexuals…. its all sin and will never end up good!!!!

While it is sad that no one believed they were innocent. The fact is that if they were a poor minority their asses would have been in jail and just being released. Look at all the black men that have been released from the Dallas County Jails that were cleared on DNA. Sorry for the inconvienence, but they were still better off than some others. At least God knew Patsy was innocent.

The same lady clearing them now is the same one who charged the sex change guy a few months ago. If someone else did it, why can't they match the blood or handwriting to anyone else?

The parents cooperated, but were railroaded by the police department who messed up so badly that they had to point the finger at the parents to take the heat off themselves.
No, the ransom letter's handwriting was NOT identical to Patsy's handwriting.

The article said the DNA found with the new technology matches the blood found then, that didn't match anyone else.

It's been common knowledge almost since the beginning of the investigation that the Ramsey family was NOT responsible for or involved in the killing of JonBenet. The fukking cops have been trying to save face because they'd botched up the investigation so badly. Don't take my word for it, do your research on-line. It's there and been there for years that the investigation was a major fukked up botch of a mess. So don't be wrongfully impressed that the "recent" findings are in favor of the Ramsey's because of "new" technology. The cops fukked up, plain and simple. They were determined to hang that family out to dry just so they could cover their own lame asses. Hope like fukking hell nothing like that ever happens to any one of you…because it can, and it does. "New" technology or not. It's called incompetence.
Too bad this wasn't revealed while her mother was still alive; that she didn't live to see their name cleared. It's shameful though how the authorities *ALWAYS* blame the parents. I can't even imagine the hell they have gone thru over the past 12 years; they lost their friends and everything. The previous DA is the one that truly put the Ramsey family through hell. Determined to find them guilty, he went after them and never looked at anybody else (even though early DNA and lie-detector tests showed they were not involved). HE should be forced to give a public apoligy, along with such gossip rags as The Gobe, National Enquirer, etc. But I guess that is too much to ask.

During interviews in the wake of DA Mary Lacy's last JonBenet dog-n-pony show, the John Mark Karr fiasco, why did John Ramsey refuse to deny outright ever having met Karr? And why didn't Lacy put Karr under oath to ask what his previous relationship with the Ramseys and their daughter was? Are they both hiding the same something?
