Wait, how can he do that when Hyatt is sponsoring a Gay-themed party for San Diego Pride in 2 weeks?

  11. 11

Well, I'm sorry everyone has the right to do whatever they want with their money. Not everyone will approve of everything, they have the right to disapprove.

  12. THEON says – reply to this
    12

Its his money and he can donate to whomever he wishes. Why are Gays such whiners?

Many years ago, when I worked for the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina (right next door to the Manchester Hyatt in San Diego), Doug Manchester owned that too.
I would bet that he still owns both hotels right there…anyone know for sure?
And my guess is he owns LOTS more that we are not aware of, in San Diego, and elsewhere.

    I believe in peoples freedom
I would therefore vote FOR gays being allowed to marry
    AND
I would also therefore vote FOR people being allowed to donate their own money to bills they choose to support. He didn't even create the bill, the government is putting it out there, and he chooses to agree with what it proposes.
To each their own, I disagree with him, but he's not being mean spirited

    17

    How irresponsible of you….
Did you not keep in mind that this is a single Hyatt franchise owned by some conservative douche bag?
putting thsi blame on the Pritzker family and the Hyatt group as a whole shows that you are a little worthless piece of shit who hates himself because he's an ugly fatass, who isn't as attractive as either Adam Sandler's baby or Rumer Willis

  18. 18

    ***************************************************************************************
It's ridiculous to boycott a business just because you don't agree with them. He hasn't really done anything wrong except support his position. You can't bully someone into sharing your point of view.

How about boycotting all of you queers. You people cry like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. If you don't like what is happening to you, why don't you move to a Middle Eastern country, they know how to take care of you inperfect people.

  22. haute says – reply to this
    22

It's his money, he can do whatever he chooses. If gays want their views respected, you should in turn provide others with that respect. He used his money, that he earned to donate. Plus Perez…if you only get a dozen people to turn up at Torrid, I'm doubting that you have enough pull to put a dent in his pocket…Love ya tho.

  23. John says – reply to this
    23

Perez, you are sooo two-faced! You promote bashing people and/or businesses who don't support all your gay proposals. Jesus Christ! Give us a break and grab a taste of sanity.

What , is freedom of speech only for gays and gay issues ? Not so . Freedom of speech for all , including that you do not like. douche

Douche— did you even read the article?— your headline should have read— BOYCOTT THE SAN DIEGO HYATT. Hyatt Corp has a good LGBT record. Its the owner of the SD property that is being singled out. Doug Manchester. Totally irresponsible and you need to change that headline.

  27. jaysu says – reply to this
    27

What is wrong with you? The is AMERICA. In America people have the right to support what they think it right. Citizens should be allowed to speak about and financially support causes they believe in without ignorant fools like you trying to cow them.
Having said that, this is America and one way to make your opinion heard is to boycott. I just wish you wouldn't call for boycotts over stupid crap like someone supporting what they believe.
Now, I gotta go make my reservations for this weekend. I wonder if there is a Hyatt where I'm headed?

  28. HAM says – reply to this
    28

Re: LettyB – LOL Oh I know right!

  29. ren says – reply to this

It's a single hotel, not the whole entire franchisee. You need to fix your site Perez to read Boycott Manchester Hyatt! Again, Perez posting before thinking. Get it right please, women hater!

Who cares? I love Hyatt hotels, especially the Hyatt Regency in Boston (mm). I thought you wrote about celebrity gossip, anyway? No one cares about this shit.

The large company I work for routinely books rooms at the Manchester Grand Hyatt -I am going to propose we take our business elsewhere, and as our CEO is gay, I think we'll be spending thousands every year with another hotel!

    it's fucking 2008, jesus christ.
    love is love.

  37. Hyatt says – reply to this
    37

As someone who works for Hyatt and a colleague of several people (gay and straight) staying there during gay pride, this article really upsets me. Like someone else said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and although many of us do not agree, it is not our place to tell them what they can or can't support. Also, to associate the Hyatt name with this since the Manchester Grand is owned by a different owner than other Hyatt hotels is slandering a company who has nothing to do with this decision. I've always liked Perez but to put this under a tagline that just says "Hyatt" without really explaining in more specifics is hurting people and a company's reputation with no basis. If he wants to boycott this one specific Hyatt, that's his decision, but leave the rest of us out of it!

  38. Dean says – reply to this
    38

Thank you for this! Will be definitely boycotting the Hyatt!

  39. No su says – reply to this
    39

Woo hoo! I must write this guy a letter of support for standing up for family values. I don't support businesses that contribute in any way to gay rights and I go out of my way to support those who support family values, and marriage that is defined as a union between a woman and a man ONLY. Thanks for letting me know that this Hyatt is doing the right thing.

  40. D says – reply to this
    40

Ms. Free Speech doesn't want others to do and say as they choose. A little hypocritical, don't you think. I will stay there just to spite Perez.

  41. Bee says – reply to this
    41

So, gays have the right to tell people what to do with their money but(t) no one else has the right to tell gays what to do?

Sounds like a liberal to me.

  42. Danie says – reply to this
    42

The article says it's not ALL Hyatts - just the one mentioned in the article.

You need to read the WHOLE thing.

  43. Lala says – reply to this
    43

So, he wants gays and lesbians to come to his restaurants and hotels so he can make money from their business…but he is trying to put a ban on their lifestyle? It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, it's a choice that anyone should be able to make…and it doesn't have any affect on those of us who choose to be straight.

  44. Nic says – reply to this
    44

Please clarify your post, do not place the blame on the entire Pritzker family who owns Hyatt Corp. This is one particular owner and one particular Hyatt franchise. It's irresponsible to defame the entire corporation.

Gay rights leaders say they are not targeting the Hyatt Corp. – which operates the Manchester Grand Hyatt – because the company has a good record in hiring and supporting gays and lesbians. But they are singling out the Manchester property.

Good job calling for a boycott. Read the actual articles you link godamnit!

  49. Beth says – reply to this
    49

what an asshole!!! yeh its okay to have a BELIEF that there shouldn't be gay marriages, but there's no need to donate that much money to make sure it doesn't happen!! I'm fully boycotting!!!

    Love you Perez

Good to see your Cuban totalitarian leanings come out. Supression of different points of view is admirable. Squashing their ability to earn a living for expressing different point of view is even better. You should become a communist and crush all opposition.

    53

    Perezie -

I love you and usually agree with everything you say… But let's take this into account… The Hyatt Corporation is owned by a private family and is a management company….THe Manchester Grand PROPERTY itself is owned by someone else. As a former Hyatt employee, I recieve extensive LGBT Training from the company….they also provide insurance and other fringe benefits for same - sex couples…. They are constantly rated as of the most LGBT Friendly companies to work for….

    Do your research!

  54. Jessi says – reply to this

Get a grip Perez, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not everyone has 2 agree. Boycotting this place is stupid.

  56. Donna says – reply to this
    56

Sorry I can't do this, he is just one person and he can do with his money how he feels. If he feels that gay marriage is not acceptable that is his opinion. I mean some gay people think straight marriage is gross. Do what you want and ignore people that don't like what you do.

  57. diane says – reply to this
    57

Oh come on. What an idiot. Everyone is entitled to their own personal beliefs and opinions. If I boycotted everyone establishment owned by anti-gays, I'd probably not have many places to go.

    STFU Perez.

  58. taste says – reply to this
    58

Aren't most hotels FRANCHISES??? If THIS ONE in particular is owned by an idiot…it doesn't mean they all are!! Check your information first! You don't want to boycott a hotel that is owned by a good person. But, definitely boycott that one in particular, and anything else that moron stands for.

  59. wally says – reply to this
    59

Your boycott proposal is too broad …it might even be hurting some of your fellow brothers and sisters who happened to be employed at that Hyatt…Sure he's a closeted jack ass but lets not inadvertentley wage war on those we support

  60. MLAWW says – reply to this

You Homophobes are right..It is his money. He can do what he wants. But guess what..Its OUR Money and we can do what we want with it. And we will NOT be going to his hotel. His freedom, Our Freedom.

  62. ghost says – reply to this
    62

Good.I am sick of the pride parades and who cares if you are gay?I do not give a eff who or what you do.It is like religion, practice what you want if it does not violate or hurt anyone and don't preach it to me.Why if it is a gay thing do you have to get soooo over the top to make sure we all know.It is a sexual preference. How about a straight pride and we all cram it down your throats?Get married, get the benefits and get the headache of divorce …WHO CARES!!!!!!

  63. Hi says – reply to this
    63

and Guess what…Gay people have the most desposable income (no children) and WE travel the most and spend LOTS of money. Why do you think sites like Orbitz try so hard for our busniss? Let him do as he wants, we will just stay away. Lets she if his $125,000 was well spent? Im guessing NOT!

  64. 64

    No, wait…
If I was going to the Hyatt I'd be stoked. Fuck a gay

  65. Simon says – reply to this
    65

As a gay man or women can choose to marry and stand for their rights in whatever situation. Why can't a single man who is a successful business owner do the same…Honestly this sounds liking some bulling to me….GOSH!!

  66. Obama says – reply to this
    66

My fellow Americans, we finally have found a family friendly hotel in America. No need to stay at disgusting, low moral hotels and risk your health. Support my campaign and I will rid the world of these disgusting infidels. Power to the people.

  67. Ms Do says – reply to this
    67

Well honestly I think Manchester has the right to vote no on this matter…as long as he is not disrespecting the gay community (which he isn't) he does have the right to an opinion!!! Let the man be for real….some people believe that marriage is between man and woman but it doesn't mean they are out to find a gay man or woman and beat the crap out of them because of it!

  68. WHORI says – reply to this
    68

PEOPLE WAKE UP>. OF COURSE THAT SON OF A BITCH HAS TEH RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH HIS MONEY..BUT ANTI-GAY LAWS ARE DISCRIMINATION AND TEH CHRISTIAN.. BIBLBLE BEATING FUCKERS NEED TO BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

THEY DO NOT REALIZE THAT GAYS GETTING MARRIED CHANGE NOTHING ABOUT THEIR PATHETIC HETERO MARRIAGES. earlier in this countries history THEY DID NOT ALLOW A BLACK N WHITE COUPEL TO MARRY. IT'S ALL BULLSHIT BORUGHT ON RELIGOUS FANATICS. BRING DOWN RELIGION AS A WHOLE!!!!!

  69. Hyde says – reply to this
    69

You stupid tard, Perez. Did you even read the article? Hyatt itself has a good record hiring gays and lesbians-the boycott is against ONE Hyatt. Way to slam a good company, asshole.

  70. Blond says – reply to this

That is only one Hyatt,. I have a few gay friends who work at the one and Boston and other locations
