We support community-based initiatives and develop partnerships with local organizations to find long-term, sustainable solutions.
We are a global network of men and women committed to ending the suffering and uncertainty of these often-forgotten children.
We are a child-centered organization that approaches the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children in a holistic manner. We address the needs of the whole child: physical, emotional, social and educational.
We are a volunteer-based, non-profit organization.
We are funded by private individuals, foundations, corporations and service clubs."

i have never seen such ignorant comments in my life. Im pretty sure the people over in africa and asia and other countries arent popping babies out because they feel like abandoning a child. If I spent my life obsessing over other people's lives and was unhappy because I didn't have one…I too would probably be ripping on this piece. Fortunatly I have a life and when coming across this am stoked that the occasional REAL matter in life is addressed. America has 500,000 children in the foster care system. 100,000 will not be adopted by the age of 18. I agree with those that say we need to take care of our own country first.

I wanted to thank you for bringing a very worthwhile organization to light. Unlike the ignorant commenters, there are many of us who care for all the children of the world, not just those from our own country.
Hi- I just noticed this charity. I went to the website and it seemed pretty sketchy, so I checked it out on CharityNavigator.com. It's not even listed, which leads me to believe it's probably not a very worthwhile cause. If you want to help people in the developing world, I recommend checking out Pathfinder International. It's an amazing non-profit that works to improve reproductive health in the developing world–including maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, etc.
No wonder they are happy, the US is supporting them., along with most of the entire planet. They would be sad if they even had to support themselves much less help anyone else. If you can't support yourself or your offspring, why should anyone else. They should be spayed or nuetered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If their are soo many people starving, why don't they use an abundant resource?? They can eat what they produce, it should be tender since most of them are young.

Why should I take my kids over there? They are perfectly happy here and well taken care of. And they have parents that are able to take care of them without relying on other people to send them money or food.

Re: bjb – For what it's worth, Yes I do take care of children in our own country. I work for Childrens Hospital Home Health Care here in town and take care of anywhere between 30-50 kids a month. So yes I do take care of needy children. And what does being racist have to do with trying to take care of our own kids in our own country?

These comments literally broke my heart. I volunteered for this organization and I can assure you that every penny donated goes to helping these children. I worked a lot with the founder and she is one of the kindest people i have ever met. While I was in Zambia I saw first hand how corrupt the government is. I actually read a newspaper article where the president is condeming condom use, and he only wants to promote abstinence.
All of the adults that I met were extremely hard workers. They get paid less than $2 an hour and can't afford anything because of inflation. An entire generation has been knocked out because of AIDS and their corrupt government is not helping educate these people. The people in this country were the most beautiful people with giving hearts I have ever met. I am truly ashamed at some of these comments. If you spent one minute with these kids your views would be changed.
One more thing…I believe in helping our own country out as well. I think there are many kids here that need our love. I do have to say that no matter what circumstance you are born into in the USA you are already 100% better off than those children in Zambia. Every kid here has a chance.
