TOTALLY Pulling a Michael Jordan!

bret__opt1.jpg

Looks like ESPN was right!

According to a new report, Brett Favre's un-retiring and wants out of the contract that binds him to the Green Bay Packers.

Will the Cheese Heads go nuts if he un-retires to another team?

Un-retiring seems so lame.

Green Bay doesn't want Brett back, wisely, so he wants out of his contractual obligations.

Will any other team hire Favre???

Why not go out in top form, on your own terms?

That is so sad. He is ruining his opportunity for future earning opportunities — He is a legend now. He will end up being a hasbeen tied to a not so successful franchaise. His legacy as a Packer will provide him so much more endorsement opportunities than if he played another year or two for another team and maybe wasn't as successful.

Well that is kind of the point. He wasn't retiring on his own terms. The Packers don't want him playing for someone else but they wanted him to retire and he did it for the "good of the team" as they put it. But he didn't really want to.

I hate it when people do this, it makes it seem like they just played us (so to speak) and used us for somekind of publicity stunt or something! I just find it annoying, and I never watch that person play again! But I am sure they do not care.

In Brett's defense, he asked the Packers to make several changes last year, including going after some high profile rookies and vets alike that had free agent status, and they didn't work with him.

We all need to take a break from time to time, Perez. I for one would be happy to see Brett come back and go to a team that would value him for more than his ability to put butts in high priced stadium seats…

Welcome back, Brett. I'm not even a packers fan, but I do respect the men that can play the game like you do.

First- He did not end on top because his last pass was an interception…
He always looked out for the Packers. He thought it was his time to retire but is obviously having second thoughts. HE IS STILL A STUD and has plenty of years left in him. In fact he is stronger than most of the quaterbacks in the NFL.. If the Packers don't want him back it is their loss!!!

Re: Kate – What are you talking about? How will this ruin his chance of future endorsments? When you think if Jordan do you think of his time with the bulls or the last year that he played with Washington? The Bulls of course and he is doing just fine with his endorsments. Also when Joe Montana finished his career with the Chiefs of all teams did that tarnish his legacy? He is still looked at as top 5 quarterbacks of all time. It takes an ultra competitive person to play 17 seasons in the NFL and if he feels that he still has something to give a team to make them better, who are any of us to say that he shouldn't. Let's not forget that the Packers were 13-3 and very close to going to the superbowl last year. Had it not been for a couple of late ill timed throws the Packers could have been in the Super bowl. So obviously he still has some game.

I'm a EAGLES fan but….I wish him well. Hell, if he thinks he has more fire…then why not. I mean it's his career and legacy that will be tainted…who are we to judge. Perhaps…he's pissed that after all he did for Green Bay they haven't really had his back the past few years….maybe that's enough fuel to light his fire and make the Packers regret. That would make me pissed enough to find my way to the Superbowl. Or maybe he retired b/c he felt what everyone else felt…that GB didn't want him around and that was his way to let them off the hook…I dunno. We'll see! Is perez a fb fan?

Brett Favre claims that for years now he's felt like the Packers didn't want him back but maybe they just didn't want him crying after every season and saying that he wanted to retire. I think that he has another good season in him but he waited too long into this to say he wanted to come back. He should have said something before the NFL draft; the Packers based their draft according to Aaron Rodgers and right now everything is set up for Rodgers to be this years QB. I guess it wouldn't have been such a big deal if Brett hadn't gotten infront of everyone cried his eyes out and say that he couldn't do it anymore. He said he didn't want to do all the work so what is he complaining about now?

Everyone is Green Bay adore Favre trust me! When he retired there were the signs, and song dedications on the radio but maybe it is time for a new QB. Favre isn't going to play forever and maybe its times we gave Aaron Rodgers a shot instead of screaming how much he sucks when he plays a quarter of a pre-season game. Rodgers is no Favre but it is time for him to have his shot, he was in fact a first round pick so he has to have something.

I'm a Bears fan and as much as I want to, I can't hate the guy. Only Packer I've ever respected! The rest of the team can suck it though! In all honesty, I think he really should just cakk it a day. He's accomplished more in his career than any other QB in history, he holds damn near every record there is at his position, etc.. He's has nothing to prove. I'd hate to see him remembered as a player who stuck sround too long, not to mention he's not exactly young anymore and I'd rather see him bow out instead of being carried out on a stretcher….granted he's a tough sum bitch, but still.

But I think it's a rumor. I'm pretty sure he's done for good.
    .
And if he did want to play some more, it would be insane for the Packers not to take him back. The public owns the Packers, and the fans just wouldn't have that.
    .
And the guy just loves to play football! He doesn't do it for any other reason, except for the love of the game! And who is anyone to tell him that he can't play anymore?

The great thing about this is that we will get to see him once again cry and blubber like a little girl when he decides to retire yet again. Sorry but the dude is over-rated. He blew it in the playoffs last year throwing dumb passes for interceptions. And anyway, how can it be described as coming out of retirement when he never filed papers and did not even miss a day of practice yet?

After 13 years of service Green Bay should have welcomed him back with open arms. If Favre is going to play it should be for the Packers, and the team should have supported him. GB can kiss Super Bowl hopes goodbye without him. I don't know if a team that doesn't allow Farve to return, after he has devoted his career to them, is a team I can support. But please Brett, just don't go to Minnesota!

  62. Becci says – reply to this
    62

I've lived in Wisconsin all my life (although I usually don't refer to myself as a cheesehead) and I would love to see Brett come back for another season or two. He left for perfectly valid reasons. With Deanna's cancer and his girls having to flip from home to home, he probably thought he was doing what was best for his family. It seems to me, he's had some time to think things through and talk them over with the wife and kids and has had a change of heart. Can't begrudge him that.
I'd hate to see him play for another team, but honestly, I'd be a Bears fan if he moved there and a Vikings fan if he moved there. When Reggie White moved on, he didn't bring his fans with him… but Brett would. He's a God!

As a born and bred Cheesehead, I can safely say that there are a bunch of pissed off people in the state today. Ted Thompson isn't going to want to deal with Brett, not when Aaron Rodgers is in the last year of his contract and this is the first year he's been scheduled to start. Minnesota and Chicago and been drooling over the idea of signing Brett for years- if Brett wants to play badly enough, I have no doubt Minnesota and Chicago, who both have pretty forgettable QB's, are going to duke it out to see who can fork over the cash required to dress Brett in their team colors. And trust me- for any Wisconsin native to see a player like Brett wearing ANYTHING but green and gold- ESPECIALLY if those colors are purple or blue- it's basically a slap in the face. I really don't think true blue Packer fans are going to follow Brett if he switches teams. No way.
