The reason England banned guns is because of the American revolution, the reason guns are legal in the US is for the same reason.

Even on the worst day England is nowhere near as bad as America. Stabbings are proportionately rare which is why its all over the media- in America its so normal no one gives a fuck. I think it is funny and horribly shortsighted to say that there are stabbings because guns are illegal in Britain. As much as they look the same Britain and America are very different and I am glad that guns are illegal in Britain (I should state that I am not from there). If you look at the statistics many of the murders are a certain specific demographic-young males 15-30 who are the victims and perpetrators. This is cause by a mixture of a lack of social cohesion and a break down in social services and opportunities for young males in life and also bad policing.

England is not a shithole and london isnt either. i live in west london (portobello) and its fantastic. its only the bad areas which are having trouble. london is the worlds centre of finance and one of the big 3 in culture and arts and fashion (london paris nyc). Its not like when muggings in nyc were rampant and almost legendary people stopped going to new york. it still was and always will be a great, immortal city just like london.
Lilly Allen is a talentless halfwit and this problem is purely media hype and should never be agreed with even if she's just saying 'Oxygen sure is handy'…. It's obviously absolutely awful but the police are tougher than ever on this issue and knife crime has gone down.

Apparently knife crime stats here in the UK haven't actually increased but that doesn't mean it's not important, just because its not as bad here as it is in other countries is not the point, it still needs to be dealt with or it will get even worse. It is heartbreaking to see the smiling faces of teenagers in their school uniforms whose lives have been taken from them. More needs to be done to stop the next generation believing that things are so bad here that they have no other option than to carry a knife.
Statistically it's not even the worst in London, it's just because it's the capital and there's a much higher population. There needs to be more focus on the other cities.

What the hell, ok first of all just because guns are illegal in the UK does not mean that gang members do not own any, there ARE guns out there amongst youths..Secondly, its not just London that suffers. I go to university in Bath (2 hours from London) and since being here over the past 3 years there have been 3 stabbings - that I have head of. One was this boy on my course who actually died, second was this man who was walking to his car one night and third was my friend who fortunately survived (who weirdly has photos of him in hospital on facebook) These issues have always been there but its only when media outlets bring up these issues that people start to take notice. What happened to amnesty international? We need more days like that!
