Now this just infuriates me! We are in a country that is supposed to be a country that supports equal rights. I'm pretty sure when the declaration of independence said "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," it did not say except gays. This is such a completely ignorant statement, as studies show, there is no difference between gay and straight parents. Sometimes they are better parents in the respect that they teach their children to be more tolerant. McCain is entitled to his own opinion, but maybe he should do a little research before he says something discriminating.

First off, MOST gay/lesbian couples (like myself and my partner of 18 years) do not want children, but some do and if they are willing to provide for, care for, and love a child as their own what is wrong with that? (Rhetorical question)
Most children who are up for adoption are those of unwanted pregnancies or whose parents have been imprisoned for drug abuse. In the first scenario, this is typical among the Republican crowd. They want to ban abortion because they care oh sooooooo much for the unborn, but once they are born they are on their own, screw 'em even if there is a gay couple willing to adopt that child. In the second scenario, they are more than willing to take these people's kids from them, throw them in prison, and once again, don't give a rat's ass about what happens to those kids.
Republicans in general just SUCK when it comes to "family values". They have their priorities in ALL the wrong places.
By the way, shouldn't we be judging Cindy McCain? She's the one that STOLE from her charity in order to feed her addiction to prescription drugs. How is that considered a "family value", unless of course money is all that is needed to be considered "valuable".

Kids who are raised in a non-traditional family, with two mothers, or two fathers, or whatever, are going to be (TO A CERTAIN EXTENT) different when it comes to social development. However, I don't think we should or can stop gay adoption as it is. Think about all the single parents, divorced parents…this is just part of growing up.
In short: I think it has an "effect" on the development of younger children, but not necessarily an adversely negative one. Let gay people have rights.
