Big news, CSI fans!
Entertainment Weekly reports that William Petersen's character on CSI, Gil Grissom, will be gone by mid-season.
"Billy is leaving," confirms the show's executive producer, "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don't think you've seen the last of Gil Grissom."
Petersen tells the mag, "I'm in a great place in terms of knowing that I'll be more free to make choices. And I'm responsible enough to not do it in a way that would hurt [the show]. I want it to work for the writers, I want it to work for the cast, and, MOST importantly, I want it to work for the audience. I don't want them to abandon the show."
It's always good to spread your wings a bit.
He has been on the show 8 years!! He's made all the money he needs.
Now, the question is: does anyone care that he's leaving the show???

Heck yeah I care! What's CSI without Grissom? It's like CSI: Miami without Horatio. You just don't have a show if there's not Grissom. Show's as good as done as far as I'm concerned.

He's like the best character on the show! Why can't they get rid of Marg (Catherine) and at least that finally got rid of Jorja Fox because she sucked too. Hopefully the show doesn't go too far down the tubes without Grissom!

This show is the a huge moneymaker for not only him but CBS. If you're employed in the biz, you'll care. He's, btw, a nice guy who's quite smart.

I care! There are some characters that you grow to care about. They could get rid of CSI Miami and I would not bat an eye because i cannot stand that little redhead (David Caruso) and his flipping sunglasses but Perterson gave Grissom a wonderful quirkiness and he brought the glue to the show. All that will be left is Marg Helgenbrunner and the guy who plays Nick from the originals and of course, Brass. Every show runs its course but he will be missed.

CSI is a show now everyone thinks that they are a crime secen investigator, try talking to someone who has done it death shouldn't be a road to ratings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahh NO! What the fuck is the show going to be about if Grissom isn't coming out with all the quirky information he has. The writers are probably going to make it so he ran off with Sara (Jorja Fox). Now the only reason to watch will be because of Catherine (Marg Helgen…uhhh….), Nick Stokes (George Eads), Captain Brass (Paul Guilofoyle…?), and my personal favorite Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda).

AFter this season I am gone!! Too many good people are leaving or being axed, the show will not last. Cio to the only good CSI show.
NO NO NO NO. I love Gil. I don't want to see him go. I will give it a shot without him but I don't know I may end up jumping ship. they need to get rid of Horatio on Miami though. or get that man to talk normal.
Oh my gosh…they might as well cancel the show!!! Grissom is the best part of CSI, and it just wouldn't be right without him. I'm wondering if they'll keep having the Las Vegas CSI now that Sarah, Warrick and now Grissom are gone. As much as I love the other characters who are left, CSI Las Vegas was a great show because of the interactions between the members of Grissom's team. I'm so sad!!
Of course I care. Except for Jorga , I would like for the whole cast to remain on the show until its series finale, when ever that might be.

It's over. I never did watch the shows when he was on leave the last time. He's the stability of the show. Everyone else is chasing their tails and drama over drive. He gives it balance and without him… I'm just over it.
