Baracking Out

Filed under: Ben Affleck > Pharrell > Politik > Kanye West > Barack Obama > Scarlett Johansson > Heidi Montag > John McCain > Ed Norton

kanye1.jpg

It's been revealed that Kanye West, N.E.R.D. and Wyclef Jean will be performing at the Democratic National Convention in Denver next month.

Cool line-up!

And, more importantly, no Barbra Streisand!! THANK GOD!

Wonder if Kanye plans to do an elaborate set?

Hollywood Dems who plan to attend include Ben Affleck, Barack's 'pen pal' Scarlett Johansson, Madonna's ex Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Oscar winner Forrest Whitaker, Maggie Gyllenhaal, funny lady Cheryl Hines and Ed Norton, who's been shooting a documentary about Obama's race to the White House.

Dem shindigs are always star-studded.

How can the Republicans compete?

Maybe they'll ask Heidi Montag to do a song or two for gramps McCain?!

To me it shows that a few priviledged people identify themselves to him so it really makes me question his ability to be a goos president for the other 350 millions people who live i this country… Because let's face it, Ben Affleck or Scarlet Johanson aren't exactly aware/conscious of the problems that regular people have to solve everyday….

Beatty knows he can't snark on McCain's age. He's one year younger. Affleck hasn't had a hit in 5 years. Kanye hates whitey and if BO wants to accept his nomination at a stadium it will make Hitler's Nuremburg rallies look civilized. No matter. Denver will be set on fire that week. Bank on it.

    45

I don't know about this?? Kanye, he may say some stupid stuff out there on stage, he is unpredictable. And nerd is an ok choice, wouldn't be at the top of my list, but Wyclef is the safest most suitable choice. He appeals to all types of people, these are the types of performers you need to have Barack. Like one of the comments said, you are going to scare the white voters away.

  56. janeb says – reply to this

    56

yeah I never cared what candidates celebrities endorse and I don't think the rest of the country cares either. I don't believe movie stars and music stars have much of ANY impact on who people vote for. That was evident during the campaign for Bush's second term, notice we had ALL these celebrities endorsing Kerry, did we care? No, obviously not because Bush won again. Celebrities don't have as much power as they think they do. Just because we like to watch them in movies and read tabloid magazines of them making asses of themselves doesn't mean we're interested in their politics.

    58

    Oh please…
    1. Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson BOTH were huge supporters and at all of John Kerry's events—and see how much success they brought him.
    2. Kanye West ranked on President Bush on national television to one of the largest t.v. audiences and he was criticized Harshly by both political sides–he'll be no help to portray B. Hussein Obama as the candidate of change & unity.
    3. Warren Beaty has been a LONG time supporter of whichever democrat is running –not choosy on who is running—-he usually will take any jackazz(dem)
    4. Edward Norton was a STRONG supporter of NY governor Elliot Spitzer–so I don't count on any of his character judgments.
    **********************************************
Statistics show that Celebrity endorsements DO NOT hold any value to the large majority of voters in either political party…

Who gives a crap what celebrities are endorsing Obama? I care about the real peoples opinions. I care about our countrys real issues and it's fight for freedom. Of course celebrities love to be liberals—because when the taxes get raised, they can afford to pay them while us hard working middle class get chunks of money taken out to pay for welfare and lazy, capable people who don't want to work!

I found this hilarious in the last election and it's still funny now. Why would I care what a bunch of idiot celebrities support. They are in the top .5% in income and have the nerve to lecture me about conservation and the environment, when they march around in their custom S.U.V.'s and live in mansions that use more electricity in a year than many homes do in 5-10. Now, I'm supposed to care about the fact that Kanye West (who is an idiot. Hey buddy, the Hurricane Katrina telethon is not for airing your ignorant personal feelings it's for raising $$ for people that just went through a tragedy) is performing? Isn't this the Democratic National convention? I didn't think this was the MTV music awards. Let's focus on the issues, and not the celebrities that just want to promote themselves.

It's pretty simple actually…the Republicans compete with educated, intelligent individuals. Democrats compete with highschool dropout Hollywood. What's really funny is comparing the mean education level of Democrats vs. Republicans. It's a 7 grade difference. Yeah.

Re: Ellen – OK THERE! IT'S JUST A CONCERT! DUMB ASS!

  98. l says – reply to this

    98

It really shouldn't matter who performs at what convention.

It's all detracting from the fact that Obama needs to address the issues in a public forum. How is he going to perform on an impromtu press confrence? Today he just unveiled a plan about sending 15,000 troops to Afghanistan..however..how does he even unveil a plan without visiting the country?? I thought he was about taking the troops OUT of the middle east.

Regardless… your political reporting is awful and catering to the 15 year old non voting, non tax paying, audience who reads your blog.

Stick to your A&R aspirations and unless you're willing to give 50% of your income to government programs that encourage people who don't work to continue to not work..

i'd suggest for you to stick to stating the facts/issues and not the hype.
