While there is growth, there certainly isnt any relief!

BUT, gas has reached almost $5.00 per gallon where I live, the store at the mall that I had to take a job at because few places are hiring (in spite of my degree and experience) is now cutting hours because business is dragging and I read about at least one company laying off hundreds, if not thousands of employees each week. I'd say we're in a recession.

Actually, if you look at the GDP report, you'll see that our economy grew by 1.0% for the revised forecast. Dont' believe everything you hear on the news. Note that it's been a long time since we actually reported negative GDP. Also note that the journalisitc definition of a recession is two or more periods of negative growth which we've not had in a long time. What we currently have is stagflation with a lack of consumer confidence thanks to the media which doesn't know it's on definition.
I understand it's an election year, but sometimes it reminds me of the movie idiocracy when people just believe whatever the hell they hear or read wherever.

I am a graduate student studying economics, and while I do not always agree 100% with either political party I will say this.. the economy is growing, just not as fast. The US economy usually grows from 6-9% a year, but it is now only growing 3-4%. Even though this is a small change numerically, it is a drastic change in the market.
I don't so much blame that man, as I blame those folks Dumber than Dirt that voted him into office.
