Amanda Peet Causes a Stir - Issues Apology

Filed under: Baby Blabber > Jenny McCarthy

amandapeetbaby.jpg

Someone might be getting a Jenny McCarthy beatdown!

Amanda Peet had a few choice words for parents who refuse to vaccinate their kids in the July issue of Cookie magazine.

The pro-childhood vaccinations actress said, "parents who don't vaccinate their children are parasites."

Peet has since issued an apology for her 'mean and divisive' comment but stands firm on her position regarding childhood vaccinations.

Like Jenny McCarthy, there are many who believe that vaccinations could cause Autism.

Thankfully, Peet acknowledged that name calling has no place in the ongoing debate.

What do U think about this issue???

Nope. Not the vaccinations. It's a Perfect Storm of nutrition & tenuous genetic "predispositions." Bottom line: BE HEALTHY when you have a bun in the oven. Eat macrobiotic or "clean."

i hope that those who don't vaccinate plan to homeschool. i don't know of any public schools that will let their kids in without vaccines.

Chances are higher that the child WON'T have a negative effect if they get vaccinated. Why take the chance of the kids contracting a painful illness? VACCINATE.

VACCINATIONS ARE BULLSHIT! AMANDA PEET IS AN UNINFORMED IDIOT! JENNY MCCARTHY IS SMART AND INFORMED AND HAS THE BALLS TO CHALLENGE THE SYSTEM!
MAYBE WE SHOULD INTRODUCE AMANDA TO SOME PEOPLE WHOS CHILDREN HAVE DIED AS A RESULT OF VACCINATIONS, AND INTRODUCE HER TO SOME OF THE AUTISTIC AND OTHERWISE COMPROMISED CHILDREN!!! HER POOR DAUGHTER HAS SUCH A NARROW MINDED AND STUPID MOTHER….AAAAWWWW SAD!

i'm team jenny!! i read a couple of years ago when i was debating vaccinating my daughter that in the mmr vaccine (the one most people think causes autism) there is enough mercury for a 160lb person!! now imagine putting all of that into your 20 lb child. i waited a year for my daughter. it's a tough subject.

Amanda Peet should shut her piehole. My kids don't have autism, but my youngest had a terrible reaction to the DPT shot. She started foaming at the mouth and spiked a high fever. She was hospitalized for several days. Granted, immunizations are great, but I wasn't putting my daughter through that again. I stopped giving her the shots after that.

I didnt vaccinate my children, and dont plan to. When the ingredients change, maybe I'll think about it. I'm on team Jenny - as I also have a friend who has Autism from a shot!

As for others who vaccinate their children, go ahead. Just read up first on what goes into a vaccination, then make your decision.

I ABSOLUTELY believe that all children should be vaccinated!!! People died way back when BECAUSE of the diseases that they are being protected against with these vaccinations! They are here for a reason and until there is 100% proof that vaccines cause Autism, then all children should be vaccinated.

the whole issue with vaccinations is so simple, and should not be the controversy it is. You know how some people are allergic to penecillin, but it helps more people get better. Same with the green your vaccine peoples point, NOT all people respond to meds and vacs the same way. some are allergic. and autism is what some people see as a side effect/allergic reaction to over vaccination. until there is 100% SCIENTIFIC PROOF stating this is false, i'm semi-inclined to listen.
I have a daughter who's 4 and she had all of her vaccinations. but i can completely understand why some are more weary. They make good points on both sides. I think AMANDA PEET needs to read a little more on the issue at hand rather than run her mouth.

If people actually did their own independant research on both sides of every story, instead of letting paid off media outlets & doctors do it for them, it would be blaitently obvious that vaccinations are a death shot - I am not a medical doctor…but i can read..money means more then your lives people.. to poiliticians, FDA officials and Merck - Peace

  32. jg says – reply to this
    32

it is called herd immunity. vaccinations only work if every child is vaccinated, then there are no host for the virus to live in. i understand her parasite comment. parents who do not vaccinate their children can be fairly sure that their child is safe NOW b/c the amount of circulating virus is so low, b/c the vast, vast majority of children are vaccinated. the problem comes when enough kids are not vaccinated and you get outbreaks of diseases that you should not get. see the increase in measles this year as an example.

  36. Gosia says – reply to this
    36

There is a measles outbreak epidemic starting up in the US. The leading cause of this is that children aren't being vaccinated against it.

There are no studies that prove that vaccinations (the current formulations) are causing autism. Nobody is looking at other factors, such as the food we eat (genetically modified, full of toxins, pesticides), or the environmental pollution that has an affect on genes. Check it out in wikipedia…

While I don't agree with Amanda Peet's approach to this, I can understand her frustration. Vaccinations shouldn't be a scapegoat for autism.

  37. Bridg says – reply to this
    37

Bottom line; Hannah Poling's case blew the lid open; the Govt conceded the vaccines caused her autism. The former NIH director said more needs to be done about vaccine safety. Julie Gerberdine from the CDC said the study (that is so often thrown in parents faces re there is no line to autism and vaccines) admits that study was flawed. Get educated. Ask questions. Don't blindly submit. 24 vaccines before the age of 2 is obsurd!! Amanda Peet, hopefully, God willing you will never have to see a vaccine regression in your child. It is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  38. She' says – reply to this
    38

Herd immunity FTW. Jenny McCarthy is a nut who knows nothing about medicine. Amanda Peet is right and she was right the first time. People who don't vax are parasites who benefit from herd immunity and selfishly put all children at risk of serious diseases. There's been a ton of research refuting that crackpot autism bunk, but whiny mothers want someone to blame for their autistic children, so they try to discourage herd immunity. Real smart.

i have three kids and i've always vaccinated them in time my oldest is 8 and she has had all her shots and then i have a three year old and a two year old they have all got their shots and none of them have a ny problems their pretty healthy kids rarely get sick! It's jsuta personal choice people make and not against vaccinations but thank god they exist because i remember wheni had chicken pox and i still have scars from scrtaching and it was horrible and now we can prevent them!!

  43. 43

I just want to say, I believed Jenny before I learned MY OWN brother had a similar autistic reaction to a vaccination! My mom told me after he got the vaccination, he wasn't responsive, and had the horrid high pitched screaming.
    .
Thankfully my mom stopped those particular vaccinations, and he got better. My brother and I took the same vaccinations, and luckily had no reactions.
    .
It depends who you are on how you react to vaccinations, but in my mind and many others, there's no questions there's a link between some autistic cases and vaccinations.
And to tell these mothers that they're wrong to hold off vaccinations is just SICK to me.
. It's not your issue, it's not your kid, so stay out of it.

I work with children with Autism. NONE of their parents believe it had anything to do with vaccinations. Most of the children that I work with have siblings have some type of learning disability. Please have your children vaccinated. Measles, TB, etc. are on the rise!!!!

There was a lengthy article in Time magazine a few months ago about vaccines saying that they were inportant. I think that vaccines should be spread out more cuz something seems suspicious and potentially harmful giving young babies soo many vaccines. BUT
Viruses are ALWAYS mutating and if children who are not vaccinated contract one of these it could potentially harbor or mutate a disease and spread it on (in its new form) to children who have been vaccinated……
In short..i would say the benefits outway the risks…but i am open to other research

A.P. 's daughter is 18 months old.. wait until she is three and if she is diagnosed with autism (god forbid) then she can weigh in on the debate. Most likely she won't have it though, since girls are less likely to be on the autism spectrum.

Vacinations are not the cause. It's genetic. Possibly even environmental. School will let unvaccinated into school. They have to sign a waiver.

What people do not realize here is that the vaccine that is being questioned is the MMR cocktail which contains some mercury. Parents can choose to have these vaccines separately. Parents have the right to do as the wish however, vaccines were created for a reason and if enough parents do not vaccinate at all we could have a resurgence in schools of these diseases.

Theyve taken the chemicals out of vaccines that were suspected of causing autism…Autism is a sad thing but people that blame it on vaccinations are just looking for something to blame instead of accepting what happened

  51. kim says – reply to this
    51

    Its a matter of genetics.
Vaccines have nothing to do with it, Jenny's only problem was that these kids are getting vaccinated too close together. I work in pediatrics and children recieve shots at 2 mths, 4 mth, 6mths, 9 mth, 1 yr, 15 mths, 18 mths (only if none given for last visit) and sometimes 2yrs. There is absolutely NO proof vaccines are behind autism. Love your child for who they are, dont sacrifice their health.

  52. my tw says – reply to this
    52

I have to agree with Amanda. I have vaccinated both of my children even though one runs very high fevers after her vaccinations. I still believe that the risk of the vaccination out weighs the horrible effects of diseases like polio. Those who don't vaccinate count on those of us who do vaccinate our children. Further more, the children who do not get these vaccinations are somewhat confined to only travel to countries where the diseases we routinely vaccinate against are all but eradicated due to vaccination.

  53. JK says – reply to this

Absolutely IGNORANT!!!!!! But once again nobody is saying "DO NOT VACCINATE", it is safer/wiser in terms of prevention of Autism and other health risks to "SPREAD OUT THE VACCINATION PROCESS"! Jenny McCarthy has never said not to vaccinate your child but simply spread it out over a span of years. Amanda Peet is disgusting! I am sure she would have a change of heart if her

I had the mmr, so did everyone i know as children. We also DIDNT eat organic whole foods free from GM ingredients, chemicals, pesticides etc as in the 80's that didnt really exist, and , oh, im fine

if we see an upswing in people not getting their kids vaccinated. bet your ass we will see rare diseases (polio) make a comeback, then you will have people who right now say vaccination causes disease, running to get their kids, or even themselves vaccinated. simple science folks, not some anecdotal shit from celebs. really, who are you going to trust. the guy/gal that spent 4 years in med school and years training to understand and analyze, or a couple of celebs who have way too much free time and the bad luck to have a child stricken with a disease for which we do not have a known cause.

hmmm, i know where she is coming from and it is because since most of us are vaccinated it increases the chances that those that ARE NOT will not get the disease thus they can walk around immuned AND get on their holier than though soapbox yet if their child got one of these horrible diseases that we have successfully eradicated I bet the next time around they would opt to vaccinated. HOWEVER, I also know that if my child got autism and there was the chance it was from the vaccination, I'd be sreaming from the hilltops thus compassion, compassion, compassion with a little understanding and tolerance of both sides of the pain and fear being presented and argued.
