Why is this shocking? What did these people expect? Different cultures have different beliefs and if you are visiting their country you should at least try to abide by their rules out of respect. I have met gay Muslim men before and they do not flaunt themselves like this when they are in their county because they are aware of what may happen, they are very secretive for good reason.

thats absolutely nothing like saying that. you're a tourist, you go to a muslim state, have a bit of respect for their culture and way of life. They're deliberatly doing something that they know will be hugely offensive to the majority. i dont understand your point about california, you're lacking on the clarity front, not fully sure what point you're trying to make. You say they feel they feel they're being unjustly punished for who they are, but the article clearly states they're tourists, ergo, my earlier point about the need to respect the place they're visiting. one the rosa parks point, it's actually nothing like that. it's more like going into a black community and insulting them all as a race. the muslim's in dubai are the ruling power, and the majority, and therefore insulting their beliefs in such a blatent disrespectful way, is nothing short of walking into a police station and saying "i have a gun and want to kill someone, arrest me please." break the law, deal with the consequences. I didnt say that this was right in anyway, nor was i agreeing with the decisions made, i simply made a point about breaking the law knowingly and deserving punishment. You can't say they were acting in ignorance, if you've been to dubai it's blatently clear you're in a muslim country.
erm fair enough? respect other people's cultures and laws etc. if may be different else well but if you don't like it then don't go to countries where this is not allowed.
