Heigelgate Won't Die Down

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is speaking out about the famous Katherine Heigl snub for Emmy awards consideration.
Rhimes says, "When I was told about it, my reaction was surprised. I have a really wonderful working relationship with Katherine. Everybody knows Izzie is one of my favorite characters."
And when asked if she was insulted at Heigl's remarks, Rhimes added, “It’s not insulting the writers per se. The first half of the season she had a very strong storyline with George that played out a lot more comedic than a lot of her storylines … The back half of the season, Katherine asked me to write her light so that she could do her movie. I don’t feel insulted.”
How diva. If she asked you to write less for her, you should have written her out!
Silvio Horta from Ugly Betty jokes, “I would put her in a coma."
That wouldn't be a bad idea!
And to keep things juicy next season, Grey's Anatomy is expanding on the lesbian storyline.
Rhimes says, “We have a really interesting, funny way of laying out a story for Erica (Brooke Smith) and Callie (Sara Ramirez). It’s not your typical way of dealing with the storyline; we sat down with them and talked about women who figure out they’re lesbians later in life and we found out some interesting things to play out.”

No I won't be watching. I let go of Grey's Anatomy after about the sixth episode when it was so obvious to me that the story line was very very stupid. I'm done with it. In fact they'd have to really do some spectacular writing to get me back on board.

I will be watching, unfortunately. I've watched the show since the third episode aired. Seasons 1 and 2 was some of the best television I've seen. BUT….. Seasons 3 and 4 were complete bullshit, terrible. If Season 5 doesn't have a stong start, I'm done.

I used to love Grey's Anatomy. Last season was just alright. I even fell asleep during a few episodes. Now I know why! If they write the whole thing to accomodate their stars instead of the storyline, no wonder why it's become - shall I say it - a little booooring…

This show has fizzled for me, it lost me after Kate Walsh and Isaiah Washington left the show. They had a great presence on that show, without them your pretty much left with a bunch of whiny characters (Meredith, Izzie, George, Lexie, etc) honestly the only ones that keep me watching are Sandra Oh, Sara Ramirez and of course Eric Dane.
Bring back Isaiah Washington fulltime and give us Kate Walsh part time cause I love Private Practice too, so half her time on Grey's and the other half on Private Practice.

anyone who watched her acceptance speech when she won the emmy would know how appreciative she was of the shows writers (et al). I believe her pulling out of the race this year is more a sign of integrity than anything else. The emmys have a terrible trend of being a popularity contest and who wants to win under the guise of great work done in a scene saving a deer? She knew she would be a front runner not because of the actual work but because of her now being a media sensation - I applaude her backing down - she waited years to be recognized as an actress and has now left that door open from someone else who deserves that same recognition.
