Warner Bros.' Batman: The Dark Knight is going to be H-U-G-E.
We mentioned last week that industry experts estimate a $130 million opening weekend for the flick (or possibly higher).
Here are more stats that prove just how big this weekend will be for the film:
- 4,366 screens across North America will be playing the Heath Ledger starring movie. Hollywood insiders say that's an industry record!
- Fandango (which sells tickets to more than 15,000 theater screens) reports that The Dark Knight accounts for an impressive 90% of all ticket sales for the upcoming weekend. Dayum! Hope y'all got your tickets early like we did!
- MovieTickets.com says The Dark Knight has sold out 700 performances in North America and is outselling 3 of MovieTickets.com’s Top 10 Performing Films of All-Time. To date, the newest Batman has more than 3-times as many advance tickets as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, more than 2-times as many as Spider-Man 3 and almost 2-times as many as Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers at the same point in the sales cycle.
Big business.

I went to a pre-screening last night… I promise, no spoilers, but let me just say that no one will be disappointed. It is AMAZING.

This is an AMAZING movie! I saw it a couple of days ago and It COMPLETELY lives UP to the hype. If you plan to watch it then you need to watch it in IMAX. It's awesome in IMAX. Heath Ledger has brought the Joker to the big screen the way he should be seen.

p.s. i can't speak for anyone else when i say this, but while heath ledger is a good actor, i see everything christian bale is in. he is by far my favorite actor on the face of the earth and he took the role of batman to another level. he IS the reason i'm seeing this movie. people need to stop piling this entire movie on heath ledger's shoulders (both negatively and positively) because he's NOT the only person who's in it. but i'm not a hater! i sure do hope his performance is as good as everyone is saying it is…

I saw a screening of it last night and it was FANTASTIC. Such a good script, such amazing acting on all parts. It's definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

OMG! I live in Argentina and it came out today! it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long long time. Im not big into heros, but this movie was amazing, everything about it was. The story was something I did not expect at all. And The Joker was to die for. You will see things in this movie you were not expecting to see! I give it a thums up! YEYYE..

It was SOOO GOOD. It opens with a bank heist by the Joker, it's so slick. And the batmobile is crazy! And we get to meet Two Face. But pretty much every scene with the Joker is the best. Two thumbs up!

Hey, I live in Australia and I saw this movie on Wednesday night. OMG!!! It does not disappoint. Make sure you go and see it at the movies and don't just wait for it to hit DVD. It is THE movie of the year and Heath Ledger and Christian Bale are a formidable force and the entire movie is so amazing it will completely blow you away! Hope you love our Heath!!!
Who does Heath's royalties from this movie go to? Hopefully Matilda and not his dodgy father.

I saw the movie last night at an advanced screening and it is AMAZING!! I couldn't believe it! My jaw actually dropped a few times, it was so brilliant. People in the theater will even clapping at certain points!
It was very long at 2hrs 40 mins, but there is no way the film could have been any shorter and still done the story justice.
I'm excited for everyone else to be able to watch this movie!
Omg, I saw the screening last night for it. It's now my favourite movie. Heath Ledger was amazing, I'm not just saying that because he passed away either, he is such a god actor.
So the moral of the story is…
Producers — make sure that at least one of the stars of your shitty movie dies a senseless, drug addled death if you want to make big at the box office.

I see it last night and it's the greatest batman movie that has ever been done. It's amazing, seriously, the whole cast is great. Heath is terrific. I wouldn't be surprised if he happens to win an oscar.

This movie is going to open to record breaking sales I've said that since I first saw the previews back in the fall or even last summer. Its sold out everywhere!!! I have friends who bought tickets for sunday late night because they couldn't get any other times. The only reason this movie would not make history in sales is if the movie theaters dont offer enough showing times……Seriously this movie is going to be the biggest thing in years

THIS WAS THE BEST MOVIE IVE EVER SEEN…ive seen tons of heath ledger movies and he completely transformed and truly is the joker…he IS the movie, although Christian Bale is amazingly talented as well. AMAZING CAST, EFFECTS, AND STORYLINE - made me laugh, jump, cry, and hey, its filmed in my CITY CHI-TOWN! Heath Ledger will always be remembered as an extremely talented actor and this movie just shows it even more. BATMAN ROCKS. i love you heath, R.I.P.

Dark Knight opened last night in HK and it is AWESOME. Heath Ledger (what a tragic waste of a huge talent) should get an Oscar. No Doubt At All. Plus the scenes in HK were fantastic and really stayed true to the place. Loved it. I repeat - Heather Ledger = Oscar for Best Actor.

i was at the theater to see hancock tonight and there was about 100 ppl lined up at 10 oclock for the show at midnight! it was insane! if i would have known it was out at midnight i would have been there with them!

Joker is hands down the best villian in a comic book movie ever… heath did an amazing job and although i loved the movie… the Joker should be put to rest with him. A sequel will be great but they Cannot replace heath ledger and i think they know that. I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT!

I tired seeing it tonight. At first it didn't start playing until 12:15 and then the sound didn't work. People were screaming and booing and eventually a dude dressed as Batman and his "crew" went to the top and covered the screen with their capes so that it wouldn't ruin it for us. lol. The sound eventually got a little bit lounder, but we all walked out anyways. It sucked sooo much. I waited in line beginning at 9:30, to have a theatre not be capable to show it.
I'm SO jealous of all of you who got to see it!!!!!!!
