You know, nobody would really care that much if he didn't have such a "squeaky clean" image. Rock stars get arrested for possestion all the time. If this was Scott Weiland then we would just smirk and click on the next story.
This disappoints me so very much. I have been a fan for 18 years and just never thought you would hear a story like this about him. Here's to hoping he learned his lesson and we don't hear anymore stories like this one.

Really?? This actually surprised me. I'm a die hard fan of BNL (yes, they have more than one song and no, I'm not Canadian), and I never would have guessed this in a million years. Is he diminished in my eyes? Not really. We're all human, and this only goes to show that what goes on behind closed doors can be VERY different than the lives that people portray. BNL and Steve Page still rock.

I'm a die hard fan of Barenaked Ladies and although this is a HUGE disappointment, I am more shocked than anything. I mean come on! This is BARENAKED LADIES, they rap about Chinese chicken. Steve Page doing coke is the LAST thing I would ever have expected. Despite all this, I still love the shit out of them.

Why don't we wait to see what he has to say about the situation instead of jumping to conclusions like we all do? The band was very quick to post a comment about this on their official website, so they obviously care about what their fans are thinking and would like this cleared up ASAP.

I don't actually care that much, though, anyhow - Ed Robertson is the heart of BNL to me these days. And whereas Steve's got one narcissistic schtick, Ed has "grown up" as a musician and has really raised the bar for BNL.

First off, Steven Page is not the heart and soul of BNL.
Ed Robertson is.
Steven happens to sing a few of their popular songs from the early days, like "If I had a $1000000", "Brian Wilson", "Be My Yoko Ono", and my personal favourite, "The Old Apartment". He and Ed took turns at the vocals, but the band took off on the songs Ed sings. If this turns into an example, the band will survive if they decide to carry on.
Secondly, comparing him to the likes of Scott Weiland is pretty weak. (or etc. etc… insert American pop culture loser of choice)
The man is part of a group that spends a lot of time and money supporting charities and worthwhile causes, both in Canada, and internationally. If you read about him in the news in a few years after his umpteenth drug bust or trip to rehab, have at him.
Until then save it for the deserving losers that make a point of screwing up their lives in the public eye. That's why you are at this site isn't it?
I am disappointed by the news, sure, but he is a human being, and I can forgive anybody once.

i went to see the smashing pumpkins in kansas city when i was like 15 and the barenaked ladies were also playing there. i was hanging out by the tour buses trying to get an autograph from one of the pumpkins and that dude was there signing one autograph then after he was done he looked at me like i was waiting for his autograph and i said no im waiting for the smashing pumpkins. he had this shit look on his face. his band sucks. if i was him i would be a cokehead too….hahahahahahaaa

I think we had a Say No To Drugs presentation once in high school pretty sure that's the last time I was preached to. My Uncle died of AIDS because he was sharing needles while shooting heroin. So I think I can speak for most Canadians when I say we are neither "devastated" or "in denial". You both just sound like ingrate douche bags.
