Barbie Winz!

We mentioned last month that Barbie's parent company, Mattel, went to court for control of the Bratz doll empire.

Well, on Thursday Mattel was declared the winner of the ownership case.

The billion dollar Bratz franchise may be in the hands of Barbie soon!

The Barbie folks were able to prove to the jury that the guy who 'created' Bratz was properly under contract at Mattel when he 'birthed' the dolls, so the ho dolls 'rightfully' belong to them.

Lessons learned — read/understand your employment contracts well, y'all!

Intellectual property laws, people. Look it up. Mattel won fair and square. The Bratz line was developed due to an idea that originated in the course of the guy's employement at Mattel. I'm sure he signed a big old contract when he began working there. This is why you should always read before you sign.

Angelina Jolie Announces That Her Next Movie Will Be...

Maleficent!

At least, we think it is! Almost positive, actually!

Angelina Jolie was at the Berlin International Film Festival today, where she is screening her directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood and Honey out of competition, when she announced that the long-rumored project was next up for her - even though she didn't specifically call it by name!

She explains:

"I haven't acted in two years, and I haven't done anything else since this . The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie. The best thing to find that balance is to do something that is just for children. You know, you find different ways to make things matter. When, for example, you do fun action movies, they are empowering for my daughters."

And since we've gotten word that the Luc Besson movie she had been eyeing seems to have stalled, and Maleficent recently got Robert Stromberg as a director, we think it's safe to say that the Linda Woolverton-written adaptation of the classic fairy tale is definitely where we'll see her next!

So, so cool!
